Looking around forge and I notice that the kill ball appears to not be there. It was such a great object for non traditional game types such as race tracks and maps like Indiana Jones and End of the World (Shredder type maps).
Did this wonderful object get cut from the object roster?
A lot of things appear to be missing from Forge. Although I have yet to play it, I’ve seen enough posts to convince me that Forge isn’t Forge and that a lot of classical objects and pieces have been removed.

With the time 343 had with all the new features, it probably didn’t make it in time but with updates every month, it will come with a lot of other objects that are missing.
I didn’t realize it was removed. The fact that they removed some of the coolest items from forge that were there to goof off in place of “Structural and lighting objects”, makes me sad. I remember building and playing on racing maps where you had to jump and avoid kill balls because why not. Stupid, yes. Fun, definitely.

Yes the amount of glorious stupidity we performed with this beloved object in forge carries with it many fond memories. I loved using kill balls to create enjoyable obstacle courses or other scenarios where death awaited the player around the corner. Do some see kill ball use as stupid? Sure, plenty do I’d be willing to bet. Kill balls were fun to use and I really hope the great ball of death gets added back in.

Kill Balls always made me laugh, especially when you trap your friend’s spawn inside one
I always loved setting them up to cross back and forth across sections of an obstacle course where they couldn’t be seen (sight lines blocked by walls or other objects) that would blindside players.
And who can forget End of the World where as objects rained down on you with the aim to splatter you kill balls rolled down the massive ramp ready to ruin your run in a second. Getting run over by them only to spawn and get run over again, only to spawn once more and get hit by a flying tank…ah the hilarity. If you haven’t played it you have to look it up on Halo Reach. Its a riot.
It’s not in the game, but Tom French confirmed it will be added.
That is great news to hear. Thanks FirestormFilms.

Agreed. I remember having sky maps and the goal was to “drop in” to the base map avoiding the kill balls that were placed all over with exploding crates dropping in. Kind of hard to goof off. The appeal of stupid game types and maps is that they’re pure stress relief, fun with friends, and no real commitment to get better, just enjoy for however long you want.
It’s like when my friends got tired of getting wrecked in SWAT, we made a custom version with DMRs, increased speed and jump, and played on break out maps, and it was FFA. Why? because who cares, it was stupidly fun and pointless.
I’d feel much better if there were two divisions at 343i, one for Competitive (Ranked arena), and one for taking ranked, adding it to unranked social, and making social game types ( infection, griffball, etc ), and adding things to forge.
The focus on competitive brings more income in the short term, but losing the core fanbase of halo (a stupidly fun shooter unlike COD and the rest ), means less players and profit in the end.
Do we know with absolute certainty that the kill ball will be added in future updates?
I always love building a particle accelerator and jenga levels. I’ve had to put these on hold.
