This is an interview with 343’s Kiki Wolfkill.
Please watch this link.
She said that they want to “take the Halo fans with us and making sure that we are giving them an experiance that they will love as their past experiances”. This shows that 343 is not ignoring the core Halo base. She also mentions they are bringing inovation, (which sounds scary to some people). Look, 343 is bringing their own creativity to Halo -inovation- and is that bad? To me it sounds like they know what they are doing.
Also, she said (at 4:45), “we want that familiarity, and you know, that fun gameplay that comes with fighting the Covenant”. It most indeed looks like we will be fighting the Covenant in Halo4 in some way.
To be honest that just seems like sales talk to me. I’ll believe it when I see it but when have you ever heard of a gaming team say that they’re not bringing creativity and innovation to a sequel? Just sounds like buzzwords.
That seemed like a roundabout response. There’s a good chance that they’re trying to recreate that feeling of fighting the Covenant even though you aren’t.
ya i saw that and i do hope the covy is in h4
Covenant have already been confirmed by Frankie himself.

Alright Greenskull! Working that smexy superintendent avatar. Nice!
What if we are crashing on a shield planet with alot of different races to battle.
I wonder if calling them Covenant is truly correct though. After Halo 3 that heirarchy was broken and the truth of the Great Journey was pretty well exposed (even the elite extremists in Glasslands know that) so I imagine it will instead be rogue bands of jackals or brutes, rather than what’s typical of covenant encounters in Halo.
Much rather the Covenant be allies. You know, “ancient evil” threatening the universe and all that.
I don’t think she meant that literally, she meant that they were trying to capture the feel of fighting the Covenant by making the new enemy similar.
