So, why is it that I was kicked out of a matchmaking game, then banned for quitting? It wasn’t a betrayal kick, everyone had just left all at once and then I was banned for quitting.
Everyone didn’t just leave… You lost connection. Even though you feel like you are innocent you left multiple times.
The reasons you leave are irrelevant. The fact that others suffer is.
Any reason you can think of that results in you leaving early… Ban worthy.
You have a bad connection- why should others’ experience suffer?
You had multiple varies emergencies and had to leave suddenly- why should others’ experience suffer?
Feel free to upgrade your Internet connection and enjoy the game but if you have a sub optimal connection and are unable to play games with so many people AND get disconnected often… You will be banned repeatedly. Not because we don’t want you here (the more players, the better!) but because your presence and sudden absence is disruptive.

Internet connection does not influence bans. Here is a quote from the Bungie Banhammer Information (which I assume hasn’t changed much since 343 took over):
The following things will not result in a visit from the Banhammer:
- Lag (poor or intermittent network performance).
- Occasional disconnects due to inconsistent network conditions.
