Since I got kicked it didn’t show up in theatre. I punched a tank that was stuck, the next guy came up, punched it then it said I killed him. Then he booted me for one betrayal even though I was also the top player.

I’ve seen worse cases.
I remember reading a thread and seeing an accompanying clip where a lock-on rocket in Reach lost its target (a banshee) and happened to betray a teammate in the friendly base. Said player/thread maker was subsequently kicked.
So really, this is nothing new. That said, the betrayal booting needs to be more consistent. And preferably not based on how many betrayals have happened in the game already. I’m not even sure if it gives you the option anymore.

Man I remember playing elite slayer back in Reach, I stuck an enemy with a sticky and so a teamate rushes in to try and get an assassination and well of course gets himself blown up. I of course got booted.
Halo 3…blow up orange cone…orange cone seeks teammate…kills him…o look a betrayal…I was sent to lobby to think about what I did. Orange cone…bane of my Halo 3 days.

My party once got my sister to kill herself while locking onto a Banshee. Rocket did a 10-second circle, only to make a huge curve straight into her
I mounted a wraith, threw the grenade inside it ,got off and it blew up. I got the assist instead how in the actual -Yoink- did I get the assist. :l

This is an actual problem that happens a lot. Something similar, spartan laser “assists” on boss wraiths in warzone. I guess the delay between laser impact and explosion of the wraith allows the system to reward the kill to other spartans, sometimes never giving you any credit. I’ve had a number of wraith boss kills taken away from me this way.
