Halo is not as popular as it was five years ago. But, is can be once again. I think we should take from other game, such as call of duty. Now wait a second, I don’t mean turn Halo 4 into call of duty I mean take this Idea : Special Ops. We already have firefight, but that is it, we only have mindless slaughter. Now not just a 2 person mission, but Eight people! Imagine 8 people sent in drop pods sent to clear the streets of New Monbassa, or boarding and destroying covenant space carriers! Or just a simple Warthog mission, where you drive through trees and land to capture and destroy a prophet. I know the covenant are disbanded, but why not have missions that reenact missions and battles from books and novels. Or play as Elites sent to destroy brutes. Imagine the possibilities! The only thing missing is what we would call it. If we can get moderators ( I.E.: The little Moa ) They could tell the 343 Halo 4 team.
Its a good idea but the 360 might lack the technology. We can save this idea for Halo 5 if necessary. Before you shoot this down, you remember 8 FREAKING PEOPLE!

Also think of Dlc! A boat mission, where we battle the covenant over water or the new threat in a boat mission. Or a flying mission or just anything!!!
You might wanna try campaign.

This could be used to teach people or get people excited about the books! A tool. And it will not be affiliated directly with the campaign.

Something tells me that 343i isn’t concerned about the book series since it barely makes as much profit as the games do.

The experience you want can be done in campaign. I do think that taking out a fleet of covenant/forerunner/flood/whatever in a huge space does sound cool, but that will become repetitive in Halo. We don’t need aspects from campaign shoved in as a new feature.

How 'bout 8-player co-op in campaign???
Halo doesn’t need to be as popular as it once was, except perhaps for Microsoft’s sake. Its popularity happened as a result of a good game being noticed by a certain number of people, who then spread the word to more people. Trying to design a game from scratch with the expressed intention of attaining a certain level of popularity is a disaster waiting to happen.
The original Halo trilogy is finished, and there’s no reason why Halo 4 can’t be a good game without competing against the likes of Call of Duty. And if it is a good game, then popularity will come on its own.
Looks like 343 took my advice!
