The cartography system is an awesome opportunity for any great forger to really get his/her stuff looked at, maybe even in matchmaking, but it may or may not be in danger of coming back when the big switch to 343i comes, so by signing your name or posting in this thread you acknowledge that you support the community cartography system.
So if ain’t broken don’t fix it.
I believe I’ll throw in my support for this idea.
I hope our new friends at 343i are ready for it. It’ll be no small feat to take over the role Bungie played in Community Cartographers.
I really enjoyed the last batch for BTB. Hopefully 343 keeps it going.
Indeed. I think that the current Cartographer system is an improvement over ATLAS and keeps a regular stream of high quality, fresh community content flowing into the matchmaking rotation.
Very much support this.
CC are the way, the truth and the life of getting out content into Matchmaking.
Please keep this, You don’t want to start off on a bad foot.
I assume where bs Angel is the “urk” of waypoint, I think she would be the overseer of the project.
Heh if only 343i chose some new ones…keeping the old ones of course…just to increase the possible map variants.
I just thought I’d point this out in case you haven’t seen it: http://halo.xbox.com/forums/games/f/9/t/6796.aspx
I say no. Why? Because the reason the CC were even apart of Reach Matchmaking was because the MM Sustain team was too small to support any additions of map variants. I honestly think that 343i will have the man power to be able to support Reach matchmaking with no problem in GENERAL Matchmaking playlists. I have no problem if the CC worked with 343i with the Community Playlists but that should be it when it comes to the CC.
And honestly I think there should be some new people to take the privilege of adding Community maps into GENERAL Matchmaking Playlists. Now I know some of you may be hurt because you liked the recent additions of Community maps in GENERAL Matchmaking Playlists but I think that Community Maps should be rewarded to get into Matchmaking through the Community Playlists. Remember Enclosed? It started off in the Community playlists first before entering into regular playlists.
Honestly it makes it much easier for the Authors to find any problems with the maps if they are in Community Playlists. If the map receives alot of positive feedback then it should be called into consideration by Bungie or now 343i to implement it into Matchmaking. I don’t like the “win the first competition and you go pro” style that the CC has been using. It makes more sense to have the map into the community playlist and the community tell whether or not a map should be entered into GENERAL Matchmaking playlists after feedback.
I’ll support this. The Community Cartographers have done a great job at finding content and testing it so far.
I have to show my support for this as well. While I hope 343 creates some great new content of its own, I’d like to see community content keep showing up i MM, and I feel CC has been a great help. I think its great incentive for players to keep forging and playing halo, knowing that one day they could share their map with the entire halo community.

The community cartographers are there as mediators so the staff at Bungie or 343i doesn’t have to look through thousands of submissions, some may play the popularity game, but it comes with the contest. It’s good to have connections, even in the real world.
And I think you may be confused about something, because i dont understand your statement “win a competition and go pro”. The first batch of maps that went in were not chosen by CC, they were the winners of the Forgetacular contest.
Did not see the new forum, my bad. You can close delete or etc. this thread.
I still say no. Why should 343i rely on CC to put in GENERAL Matchmaking? I feel 343i should do their own stuff when they get control over Matchmaking playlists. The forge contest should just go towards Community Playlists. I feel very sorry for the people who forged their maps into the forge contest as their map wasn’t even looked at because of Bungie’s failure to do anything. The Forgatcular contest shouldn’t have been started if all the maps weren’t even going to be looked at. I felt so sorry for the thousands of people who forged their own map to enter their map into the contest only to be told that only some random maps will be looked at.
You guys should only live up to your name as “Community” Cartographers. Not General Matchmaking Cartographers. I will be very much disapointed if 343i allows you guys to still put maps into General Matchmaking after the transition.

Oh, sorry I wasn’t clear. This thread is perfectly valid. I just wanted to point out that a thread exists here on Waypoint for map submissions (I figured I’d add it since it was relevant).
TLDR; You are a-okay!
Yeap, sounds awesome, I reckon the new maps made BTB way better
I support the cartographers.
I would really support the continuance of the Cartographers, it has been working great so far, why stop now?
All that would really have to happen is to get them all to join the site and maybe to be part of a special little private group type forum in which they continue they Cartographer buisness.
Bungie tried Atlas in Halo 3, and it failed. They reloaded with Reach and came up with the idea of creating a group of Cartographers. People to filter noise from various forge communities and extract the best maps. It worked very well for a couple of reasons. First of all, the amount of maps making it through to the MM sustain team was always manageable. Second, it allowed each of the represented communities a big reason to grow and remain active. In turn, forgers got better, and put more effort into maps, knowing they had a potential channel to get them into MM.
To me, the results in MM speak for themselves. I’d rather fire up my Wii console than play Sword Base, Countdown, Reflection, and Pinnacle over and over again. The maps submitted through cartographers made Team Slayer, Arena, Doubles, and BTB playable. I think to discontinue the group would be a shame for both MM, and the currently thriving communities built around the members of that group.
And you don’t not playing with DMRs right Obi?
