I enjoy playing Arena. The gameplay is fast, engaging, and competitive. What I like most about it is the sweet sense of nostalgia regarding Halo 2 and its intense gameplay. Halo 5 shares many characteristics with Halo 2 in the competitive department, especially the pace of combat. I think if Halo 5 brought back maps like Lockout, Sanctuary, Battle Creek, and Warlock, gamers would be excited. Now I forsee the arguments of Halo 5 mechanics and how that meshes with the Halo 2 maps. But I just feel like these maps would be awesome for Arena. The strategic set ups, sight lines, spawn points, the balance of power weapons. BTB now has Valhalla and Sandtrap and they play beautifully. Plus it’s incredible resurrecting old memories with a more advanced shooter. If the team needed to make changes to the maps to help balance the abilities of Halo 5 so be it. I would love playing Sanctuary in Halo 5. I understand many gamers criticisms regarding the conditions of content, updates, matchmaking, and Reqs, but Halo 5 is the best Halo for extreme combat and skill. Even with the lack of content I still find it the most exciting and entertaining. Maybe my idea is foolish, but I think it’s worth the contemplation.
Yesssss
I agree, but this all takes time I mean we are getting maps very slowly but they will come it seems more and more slowly.
Having maps like these may need a polish here and there, and they should be good for putting it into arena game modes. The problems is, it may have to be limited to a playlist, because having an update with 3 or 4 new retouched classic maps may have too much for people to download. 343 said that they might have to LEAVE some bugs in the game simply because there is too much data that needs to be downloaded that it would become too much for X1 to download.
I think this idea should and no reason it shouldn’t be implement into social slayer feature forge remakes, fresh creations, and halo 4/5 maps on rotation. 343 did a great job implement forge btb maps. Arena should share the same awesomeness.
I think classic remakes would be much better than H5 remixes. The designs are already there and they play great. With modern graphics and new Spartan abilities they would be an excellent addition to Arena.
My personal wish list:
HCE–Prisoner, Hang Em High, Battle Creek, Longest
H2–Lockout, Ascension, Turf, Relic, Warlock, Ivory Tower, Colossus
H3–Guardian, Foundry, Narrows, Epitaph, The Pit
Reach–Sword Base, Boardwalk, Power House, Countdown
In my opinion these maps offer great verticality, balance, tense combat and some of the most competitive play Halo has to offer. I know they can be played on MCC but I believe there all worthy of new life in Halo 5. I would gladly burn 50 gigs of hard drive to play them again!
classic maps would be awesome. For the smaller maps like warlock maybe they should disable spartan abilities because you would probably die instantly after getting out of a 1v1 as the other team can run to you and finish you off.
I need Beaver Creek from HALO 2…

I would kill for lockout, to me that’s the best map in the history of halo to me.
