Keep talking about gameplay issues! Cosmetics are less important

I know the progression/customization system is bad, and it is, but I’m worried with all this backlash about it that 343 is gonna neglect the game play problems in order to focus on the progression and customization. I’d much rather the latter be on the backburner until the game, ya know… works.

Right now, the lack of playlists and gametyps, not to mention maps, makes the game get pretty dry, pretty fast. There are less gametypes and maps in this than any other Halo game. The server tick rate is terrible and makes people get killed around corners all the time; I do it to others and it happens to me, and in both cases its frustrating. It makes the game feel fake and ruins the coolness and magic of it when I just shoot a wall or plainly miss and the guy dies, and it’s infuriating when the same happens to me.

The radar is horribly small, and effectively useless. The AR can kill from much too far away, making it very easy to get melted by multiple people even if they’re really distant. The plasma pistol is still ineffective and homing shots with it are harder to hit with than non-homing shots, making it even worse. Vehicles still stutter around, and people on vehicles still stutter around. The banshee doesn’t handle well, it feels very clunky.

Let’s keep talking about these problems so the devs can justify prioritizing them!

Agree! The core gameplay concerns are much more important IMO and I think for the most part they can be resolved relatively easily.

Fix gameplay way before cosmetics and progression. I also think it would be a mistake if they prioritized progression improvements over forge and coop

Yeah seriously. Why do people seem
to care more about cosmetics than the fact that heavy vehicles are almost nonexistent in BTB?

Everybody is complaining about the cosmetics (me included) because 343 pretty much nailed the gameplay. Of course it can be improved and that kind of feedback is important.

But currently gameplay is a 9/10 and all the free-to-play elements are a (-65)/10, hence of course most of the talk is about that.

Completely agree.

I’ve already fixed everything about progression and customisation myself - I don’t pay them. It’s a real quick and easy fix that if everyone did would make them fix their end just as quick.

Don’t forget the aim assist glitches where it syncs up incorrectly with the server or completely breaks and stops working when your shields pop

I get what you’re saying, but I think the gameplay, as it stands, is a 5/10 at best. There’s a fun game under there, but it’s buried beneath hits not registering, getting killed around corners or killing other people around corners (which just completey ruins the joy of it), vehicles not working, the radar being completey ineffective, and getting melted by grenades that get spammed because they don’t damage the person’s allies and ARs that can easily cross-map you.

I do really think this game has a lot of potential, and most of these issues are reasonably easy fixes, but I think regardless of how bad cosmetics are, gameplay issues need to be resolved first. As it is, I can’t play this game for more than like an hour without getting fed up with one of these annoying little issues that ruin an otherwise excellent game.

Ah yeah how could I miss that lol

That’s what I’m here for :+1:

I just remembered we have a broken custom games mode, broken theater mode, and not even half the built in gametypes that Halo: CE had, not exaggerating.

Both are just as important. The game’s F2P, monetization is how it lives.
As it is now, nothing is worth buying. They’re all awful deals.

Oh yeah. I’m really hoping they’ll surprise us with more games and maps soon after launch cause right now there’s less of both than even CE had, not to mention the later games. And not a single remake either.

Also yeah custom games is big broke right now lol

I do agree with that, but I can live with having a bad progression/customization system for a while if the game is fun. I can’t live with the game being annoying to play just because the customization was fixed. So I hope they don’t drop all the gameplay problems to fix just the cosmetic stuff

Cosmetics are important to me, and while I expect most of the problems with lack of content will eventually be fixed, I have no such faith that monetization and cosmetic customization will ever be brought to an acceptable state.

Really? I think it’s the other way around honestly. I think the customization system is easy for the developers to fix and will probably get changed pretty quickly. I think the gameplay issues are more core aspects of the game and will require more work, so they’re gonna try to let people forget about them.

The lack of content will be worked on, because the whole goal of the game is to slowly release content over time, it sucks but that’s what it is, they had six years to deliver a lot of content on launch and it’s already too late for that, they just didn’t do it so now you’ll have to wait for it.

On the other hand, despite there being a lot of feedback about the cosmetics and micro transactions, I don’t have faith they’ll be fixed because it involves money, and I’ve seen plenty of developers either sweep all this stuff under the rug or release a tiny fix that doesn’t really solve anything and then act like they addressed the feedback and never mention it again.

Well yeah I mean as far as the lack of content alone, that’s fair, but there are lots of other glaring gameplay problems. Terrible radar, getting killed around corners because of server tick rate, no grenade indicators, vehicle physics getting all messed up and vehicles flickering or phasing through things, etc. There’s lots of problems that need to be addressed quickly, but people are complaining so much about cosmetics, I’m real worried that all of that will just get swept under the rug.

I think once the microtransaction stuff is out of the way they’ll be a lot more feedback about everything else, I’ve already seen quite a bit of feedback on gameplay so I’m sure 343i has too if they’re looking, I personally have a massive list of feedback that I’ve been waiting to post, but I know a lot of 343i is on holiday break right now so I’m not sure how much of this stuff is getting read.

Certain weapons and vehicles could use more work.
