While discussing sprint in multiplayer has become a war zone, I think it should be kept in Campaign and whatever incarnation of Spartan Ops or Firefight we see.
Being able to do something as simple as sprint just furthers, I don’t want to say immersion, but something like it. Personally I like seeing my rifle sway and hearing Chief trudge as he picks up the pace.
Perhaps it is immersion, the sound and the motion.
Anything that visualises in first person what your character is doing is a plus for me. Even if I got tired of Spartan Ops’s objectives, I still appreciated seeing my spartan in first person hit the switch or seeing Chief placing Cortana in various terminals.

Nobody can deny that part was cool. However sprint is an entirely different Grunt (get the halo joke? Instead of puppy I said grunt! Yeah…)
Anyways, I would say make it toggle-able in Campaign or FF. I do not want sprint in any way shape or form in the next game, but I can compromise to say make it toggle-able for only FF and Campaign.
I don’t think I need to explain why I hate sprint. The topic has been beaten to death already enough times.

I don’t get why people are so skittish about sprint, keep it period, just keep it out of a majority of matchmaking playlists
I really do not see any problem with having Sprint in Campaign or another PvE mode, personally I would even call it an improvement for the experience in there.
Besides, in case the player should not be able to rush through a specific passage of the Campaign for several certain reasons, the developers could simply disable sprint for that passage.
I agree, they should keep it in campaign but they should also make longer missions. Halo 4’s campaign was probably short because of sprint.

I can understand why you’d hate sprint in multiplayer but surely it doesn’t need to be toggle-able to the same degree in Campaign or Firefight.

Agree, other developers simply disable it and make you slower when you’re going through and important part.

Compare Halo 4’s levels to Halo CE/2. Sprint has nothing to do with the levels being as small, linear, and closed off as they were.
As long as Sprint does not substitute trick jumping, I’m fine with it.
In Halo Reach/4, trick jumps are unfortunately a rarity due to the low jump height and landing stun (which occurs after surviving a long fall), making Sprinting more viable. This should not be so.
If Sprint stays in Campaign, then they should increase Chief’s jump height and reduce his landing stun duration to make room for trick jumps.
The fall timer, which is how long you can fall before dying, doesn’t need to be changed. It’s great in Halo Reach/4.
Fall damage, with no stun (i.e. Halo 2/3), isn’t so bad either.
Also, just to make it clear, I prefer Sprint.
In pre-Sprint Halo Campaigns, it was agonizing walking great distances when exploring out of bounds.
I just want a better jump height to go along with it, and perhaps the reduction of fall damage (in particular, fall landing stun duration).
