This playlist shouldn’t even be considered for a rotational playlist. It’s pretty obvious it’s underrated at 343i when you hear “Infinity Slayer” at the start of the game instead of “Snipers. Snipe the other team!”
Not that you can snipe your own team mind you. That’s been removed for some reason and friendly fire has to be turned back on. I get having that in certain other playlists, but friendly fire is a quintessential Halo feature and needs to be in the majority of playlists.
On top of that, other maps need to be included. Like Haven. And Ragnarok needs a higher weighting. I have no idea why 343i would reduce the likelihood of either of those maps showing up in other playlists. They are the best two.
If Ragnarok starts showing up more, then it would be fantastic for the Beam Rifle to make an appearance too. And because the Beam Rifle is far superior to the Sniper Rifle, then the Sniper Rifle will need a buff. It should shoot a little quicker and lose the bloom. The bloom on the Sniper is redundant and has no gameplay enhancing qualities.
And at this point, you’re probably thinking “STOP TRYING TO TURN THIS GAME BACK IN TO HALO 3!” Well here’s the kicker. 343i should add the Awareness mod so that we can all see the radar in scope. Because Halo 4 is different after all. With it’s kick and scope radars.
When the CSR rolls out and hopefully included in game too, I believe Team Snipers could be a great competititve experience. Until then, we can’t just sit back and let it die, spinning round on the rotational wheel of misfortune. So, show your support!
I am a hardcore Team Snipers player, it’s all I ever played in both H3 and Reach, and it will probably be what I play 90% of the time in H4 unless MLG turns out to be awesome.
In order for me to do this, the playlist needs to stay.
Here are my personal improvements to the playlist:
Add Haven and Adrift in map rotation, remove Meltdown and Vortex since all people ever do on those two maps is camping.
Add the Beam Rifle, it’s not unbalanced compared to the human Sniper in my opinion. In Halo 3 i used the human Sniper on level 45-50 all the time and I didn’t lose more than I would have done with the Beam Rifle. It’s about preference in this case, and I would still use the human Sniper in H4 with the Beam Rifle as a good secondary to pull out in sticky situations.
With a ranking system, Join in Progress needs to go. I hate getting put into matches that one team is up like 200 points in, and it doesn’t just happen sometimes, it’s 9/10 games. Today I played 10-15 games and almost all of them were JIP with me ending up on the losing team.
Radar should stay, most of the maps are to big for anyone to ever show up on it anyways, and since the sound in this game is so horrible it doesn’t really give me an advantage even if I have a good headset.
Don’t add Magnums and Grenades, or Shotguns for that matter, we don’t need more herpaderping bad kids like it was in Reach, where everyone just tossed grenades and rushed in with their Magnums out. And Shotty Snipers was pretty bad in H3 since many just decided to camp in corners with the shotguns instead of focusing on Sniping.
I really hope this playlist stay, and if it doesn’t at least add Snipers as a gametype in one of the other playlists. I don’t really see myself playing much of this game if there’s no Snipers playlist/gametype what so ever. If Swat get’s to stay, so should Snipers.

These are what I disagree with and here’s why:
To me, these BTB maps have a very Halo 2 feel and I like that. Plus, the more maps the merrier. If you think they’re not so great as other maps however, then their weighting could be reduced so that other maps show up and are played more.
Have you even used the Beam Rifle yet? I’ve had 1v1s on Haven and it is far superior to the Sniper. With it’s ability to fire off two quick hits and the person feeling a kick after the first shot, then you can see how being in scope is a problem. And the Beam Rifle is better for no-scopes so you’re going to want to be using the Beam Rifle against other Beam Rifle users. Meaning the Beam Rifle is better than the Sniper.
I always hate the fact I body-shot someone and they proceed to sit behind cover for the next 5 minutes, which is where grenades come in handy. To flush out those campers. However, since we would already have the Beam Rifle in slot 2, the Magnum doesn’t really have a place. Unless we have different variants. Team Snipers (with grenades and magnums), Team Beams (with grenades and beam rifles), Snipers pro (no grenades and no secondary)
I also only played snipers in Reach and H3, and I will probably only play it in H4.
I totally agree with HighsounD except on one thing - radar. A lot of people don’t think it is that big of a deal, but I really do. Radar should simply not be in snipers, it just awards people with no awareness. I think it does make a pretty significant difference in the way the game is played; you know when your enemy is going to run around a corner every time. Every noob in the world is going to camp in a corner and wait for a red dot to pass by. It’s just wrong and ruins the playlist. This would just be multiplied when you add in smaller maps like Adrift and Haven.
Beam Rifle doesn’t matter either way, I don’t think it’s overpowered.
Magnums and Grenades MUST stay out.
Join in progress needs to be fixed.
I would also add in a couple of things to that list:
-Flinching. Its bad in every playlist, but with sniping its incredible. Fix it. Nuff said.
-Scoping out when you get shot. It really was a skill to zoom back in and headshot your opponent before he takes his second shot. Again, this is just awarding clueless players.
I personally can’t believe they’re going to replace snipes with FFA Throwback next week. There are still 10,000+ people playing snipers three days after its release; will this be the same for throwback? Not even close.
I agree with you on this one. Team Snipers has been its own permanent playlist for the past few Halo games and now they’re pulling this crap all of the sudden? The game is great don’t get me wrong, but making Snipers a rotational playlist is just messed up. On the day that this playlist came out, I’m pretty sure I saw a good 24,000 players playing it at least. There should be more big team objective too, at least capture the flag or assault.
