Keep MLG out of HaloWaypoint.

Going to cut this down short and simple. All MLG players need to stop posting “Why do you hate MLG” or “MLG is better” BS on these forums. It just sparks up threads like “MLG needs to go”. I play MLG everyday and I like to come on to these forums to interact with the community that are the REAL Halo fans. Yes, real halo fans. Why are they real? Well it’s simple. They like everything not just the multiplayer. I’m tired of seeing threads about how MLG is stupid and how it helps no one. I am also sick of seeing MLG is better blah blah blah. You wanna know why “Casuals”, as you guy call them, hate you? It’s because you are labeling them. Someone can play BTB or SWAT way more then you play MLG and you classify them as casual just because it’s not MLG. Yes, a lot of MLG kids are -Yoinks!- that talk -Yoink-. Like yesterday I got matched up with a guy and for no reason he starts calling me a -Yoink-. Now, let me make this clear too. Not all of them are like that, but a majority are. We need to treat the each other with respect no matter what we each play. Another thing competitive players need to do is stop saying “E-Sports”. Gaming is not a sport whatsoever. It requires no athletics. Professional Gaming is the term you need to use if you want to be taken seriously. You don’t hear Professional Gamblers calling it D-sports. Now, back to the main point. Just respect and support each other for the sake of Halo. If Halo 4 got picked over BO2 that’s got to say something. End rant.

Competitive and causal gamers are always split.

I thought you said you were going to cut this down short and simple :frowning:

Chess is a sport which takes no athletic ability. Also a few other labelled sports that I don’t feel like bringing up. Its kinda rude to disregard the e-sport players…

But trust me I agree with you on everything else. MLG playlist players usually tend to think they know whats best for the competitive crowd which very well is not true. I’d love to see this community come as on and just talk about the game rather than their opinions.

But I also want world peace and a million dollars.

> I thought you said you were going to cut this down short and simple :frowning:

Lol, I got carried away. Sorry.

> Competitive and causal gamers are always split.

Define competitive and define casual.

I don’t understand how you can post a thread that says “Let’s all just get along” yet title it “Keep MLG out of HaloWaypoint.” It’s contradictory.

Even though there are two groups there is a lot of overlap. The vocal minorities are just that: vocal minorities. They are going to come here and say what they want to say because that’s what discussion forums are for. For my part, when someone posts something that I don’t agree with I tend to take them on in debate and let you folks decide which argument is better (notice I didn’t say right). It’s all opinions here.

What if I told you that discussion of MLG on the waypoint forums helps advertise MLG and gets newer players interested?

Why would we want to stop that?

I am pretty sure Starcraft is like the 5th or 4th most popular spectating game in South Korea right under the big three. The professional players are treated like celebrities over there and the matches sell out stadiums. Pretty remarkable for a video-game dont you think?

That could happen with NA in the future, only it would most likely be a FPS seeing as how that is the genre most people here identify with.

> Competitive and causal gamers are always split.

Its an imaginary split. No one seems to know what a “casual” player really is. All these MLG players are so arrogant that they label ANYONE that is not a hardcore competitor or just anyone that just plain doesnt agree with them a “casual”. Let me tell you, I dont really care too much for MLG, but I guarantee I am a more hardcore Halo fan than any MLG player. I see MLG pros calling Spartan Ops and Campaign “casual”, just goes to show how much they really care about Halo.

E-Sports is so much catchier.
I’ll call things by their proper names when it’s business but any other time it’s e-sports.

Off topic: I hate when we call our bosses we have to bring out this fake personality cuz it sounds professional.

Many of the MLG crowd like both games and elements outside the multiplayer. Part of the pro circuit is watching for news and updates to keep things fresh and interesting for their followers and they accomplish this by studying the footage which is released. All the footage. Also, real Halo fans is a pretty objective (non-fact, opinion-based term) phrase to be using.

Thanks for sharing. I do agree the labeling could be minimized.

Your generalizing an entire community… not the wisest move to do.

When I see reasons why this happened, directly quoted from MLG, I’ll make a comment. At this time, I’ll only say, “things can change”.

> > Competitive and causal gamers are always split.

Competitive - A person who has a strong desire to do better then others.
Casual - A person without definite or serious intention towards winning.

Doubt any MLGs out there even played a Halo campaign. They’re just in it for their dam money.

I wouldn’t even call MLGs for Halo fans, they just utilize the mechanics of this awesome franchise, for their own good.

On topic:

To define a casual: A casual is someone who plays Halo merely in their freetime, having little else to do. Playing for the fun and cares not for winning.

MLG/Pro/Whatever arrogant people: These usually play to achieve a high Skill rating, just to show it off to others because they want recognition. They play to win basically.

Both of these sites have their Pros and cons.

There seems to be a fair amount of labeling and generalizations being made in this thread, so I’m locking it. OP, if you feel you can recreate the thread with out enforcing negative stereotypes and in a manner that promotes constructive discussion, please feel free to do so.
