Not sure if this has been suggested before, apologies if so.
It seems to me that Halo 5’s MP has been received reasonably well by the Halo community and 343 is doing a decent job expanding it. 343 was also smart to keep the H5 player base together through free map packs (and introducing the REQ packs as an alternate source of income).
So I was thinking, why not keep Halo 5’s MP as a continually improving Halo MP platform on XB1 and make future XB1 Halo’s SP only?
This avoids splitting the MP player base again when Halo 6 comes out and it gives 343 some more focus. Have one team dedicated to expanding and improving MP and another to making a H6 campaign that’s as good as the older ones (the H5 one was sub-par IMHO). Graphical and mechanical improvements are getting more and more marginal these days, so I don’t think H5’s design will look or feel outdated anytime soon.
Harmonix is doing the same thing with Rock Band 4: keeping a single game as a continually improving platform for a console generation. I think this approach would be beneficial for Halo as well.
Honestly 343 has turned halo into space CoD. I much preferred the halo 2 and 3 multiplayer personally. “THEN GO PLAY MCC!” I hear the angry fan boys scream, to which I say I would if it actually ever worked. Having said all that, Halo 5 mp is still fun. Warzone is a nice add on plus we dont have to buy extra content which is pretty nice of 343 in this day in age when gamers are being shafted left, right and center. Looking forward to infection and firefight later in the year too. I do miss how the halo 3 mp played and some outstanding maps however.

If they are going to be improving the MP, then why not have it ship with the next game?
I don’t want to have to keep swapping my Halo 6 disc with my Halo 5 disc every time I want to switch between Campaign and Multiplayer.

If H6 gets its own MP, it splits the community as I said. You’ll have people preferring H5’s MP and people preferring H6’s MP as before. As for disc swapping, I’m thinking of a situation where the physical copy of H6 comes with a digital download of H5 without the H5 campaign stuff (like the ODST H3 multiplayer disc).

That was never an issue with previous halo games. People are going to play what they want to play, but the current/active title has always been more played than a previous title after launched. Plus doing your idea (if I’m reading it correctly) would lead to repetitive play after so many years. So they’ll make an h6 multiplayer to add something new to the experience.

Just curious… I’m always hearing comparisons with Halo 5 and CoD… yet I don’t see why. IMO they are nothing alike. I’m not calling your opinion wrong as it is an opinion therefor cannot be, but can you elaborate on why you think Halo 5 is comparable to CoD??

Probably the seemingly faster paced gameplay. I don’t see the comparison either. Halo still is an arena/tactical with one of the longest ttk out there of all games, that’s what defined halos multiplayer but now the we can sprint or thrust (which halo had first) it’s going CoD out of no where will be the arguement. H4 I could argue as s CoD clone, h5 went back on so many things to fix that issue.

Yeah I don’t see any comparison besides the ability to sprint and shoot? And in no CoD has there ever been the ability to thrust strictly horizontally as in Halo 5. Halo 5 is still Halo in the fact that there are power weapons to fight over and the longer TTK. Halo 5 still feels a lot slower than CoD even with the spartan abilities, and I can’t ignore the fact that the movement in CoD just feels so much smoother, which is not a knock to Halo, as it is suppose to be a slower game.

Is MCC really broken for you guys or is just nitpicking now? I was playing games just fine on it yesterday.

Apparently if a game has sprint it is a CoD clone. And the thruster argument is ridiculous because Halo had it first.

The thruster argument is ridiculous because they are completely different. Again, no CoD in the history of CoDs has ever had the ability to thrust horizontally.
Honestly, with how well-received H5 is on the gameplay front, I can see them adopting CoD’s philosophy of essentially reusing the same engine on each release…
The gameplay remains essentially the same, just subtle tweaks and additions where they feel they can further innovate and polish. Then they’re able to sell a new MP package.

Well, there are game mechanics that are blatant ripoffs of the COD mechanics. Things like Clamber (mantling), ADS animations (was this really necessary?), Sprint (one can argue about this mechanic till the end of time, it seems), and the implementation of the Thruster Pack (reminiscent of COD’s implementation). Then there is the TTK, which is ridiculously short, and the ease of use for the weapons. Oh, for sure, the weapons are harder to aim with, but once you have the first few shots going (especially with the automatic weapons), it becomes too easy.
Also OP, that is a terrible idea because, then, there would not be any Splitscreen for the forseeable future. People are already turned off of Halo 5’s MP by the lack of local Splitscreen multiplayer.

As if CoD invented any of those mechanics? Even the thruster pack was in Halo 4 before it was in CoD. Your apparent ignorance of the history of FPS games aside, you’ve said something far more ridiculous near the end. The TTK is not too short. It is too long for precision weapons and too short for automatics. Long kill times are not good for Halo and they would be even worse with the increased mobility and escapability in H5, along with all of the cover and escape paths in the map. Ridiculously short. Christ. Have you played Halo CE?

Oh, sorry that I didn’t specify my weapons, for Christs’s sake. I never said that COD invented those mechanics, I said that the way that they are implemented is too reminiscent of COD to be coincidental. Use those reading comprehension skills you learned in grade school and re-read my post. So the thruster pack was in Halo 4, big whup, the way it has been implemented in Halo 5 is the way that Advanced Warfare used thrusters. TTK is too short, and I guess I need to specify for pedantic individuals, FOR AUTOMATIC WEAPONRY. Halo CE is an example of a short TTK that is good. All of the weapons killed fast, not just the automatics. And for the record, I did not play any of the classic Halo games in their primes, but I did buy CE for PC, Halo 2 for Vista, and Halo 3 after Reach was released.
Take a chill pill and calm down.

Its happened with teh Halos we have right now lol. MCC was barely out for a year and I couldn’t find H1/H3 games a few nights ago.

> As if CoD invented any of those mechanics? Even the thruster pack was in Halo 4 before it was in CoD. Your apparent ignorance of the history of FPS games, you’ve said something far more ridiculous near the end. The TTK is not too short. It is too long for precision weapons and too short for automatics. Long kill times are not good for Halo and they would be even worse with the increased mobility and escapability in H5, along with all of the cover and escape paths in the map. Ridiculously short. Christ. Have you played Halo CE?
This is not a well constructed sentence.
Either way, it shouldn’t matter who did something first. Developers build off of previous work that has a proven track record of success while tweaking things to get their own authentic feel… Sure, both Halo and CoD and Titanfall all have some sort of thruster/jetpack, yet they are all entirely different in how you use them. CoD took wall-running from Titanfall who I’m sure took it from someone else, yet still they both have different mechanics.
Games will always copy and innovate what works. I think it’s important to realize that while some times, this can make a once beloved game feel distant and alien, most of the time we as gamers benefit from this.
I think Halo 5’s playlists should be added too MCC if that is possible. It would be nice to have the MCC as an archive for past Halo games once the new one comes out.
Halo 5 would only show up in the MCC if you own both games.
