KEEP FIREFIGHT alongside Spartan Ops

[MY OPINION]

Spartan Ops should have been a co-op story based off of mainly firefight maps, some campaign spaces, and BTB multiplayer maps.

Firefight should have been copy/pasted from Reach with new/more maps and some little improvments to make it feel more of a “survival” type while retaining all of those sandbox elements.

If needed, replace Spartan Ops matchmaking with Firefight. Spartan Ops doesn’t really need it as it seems more like a “friends only or solo” game mode.

NOTE: I’M NOT ACCUSING SPARTAN OPS OR IT’S DESIGNERS. I find it a very interesting and pretty awesome at certain points. Perhaps more sandbox elements can be used in future iterations of it, however. (MOAR GIANT VEHICLE SPACES/WEAPON SANDBOX/AIR BATTLES/SCARAB AND LICH AND UNIQUE BOSS BATTLES)

Yes PLZ!!!

I have grown bored of Halo and let me tell you firefight in Halo Reach has satisfied my bordomness!!

Should be possible on next-gen hardware if the 50GB CD space is true. (As apposed to the 360s current 7gb)

I have faith Halo 5 will redeem Halo, i don’t expect it to boost Halo in to the ranks of King because it would be nearly impossible in this game market, but i believe with the new Xbox Halo 5 can truly become better and redeem what Halo was meant to be.

I just hope it’ll still have the typical FULL studio working on it for 3-4 years. None of this annual/every other year plus a side game crap.

It won’t, that 4 year period of annual halo games was merely an illusion, each game had a 3-4 year development cycle (except Halo 3 ODST, but then again it was more of a expansion game).

Halo 4 - 4 years - 2012 - 343I
Halo CEA - 1 year - 2011 - 343I/i forget
Halo Reach- 3 years- 2010 - Bungie (full studio)
Halo Wars - 4 years- 2009 - Ensemble Studios
Halo ODST - 1.5 years- 2009 - Bungie(it was a team of like 10 people too)

As you can see Halo isn’t becoming Annualized.

Halo wars was set up by microsoft, and bungie pretty much admitted to hating it as a bastardisation of their IP to sell a game that wasn’t good enough on its own merits. CE:A was done by another company outside of 343i. and ODST was only done as a part of a contractual obligation in order to be free from halos.

Blame microsoft.

Even still, if any of those games were released with a 3 year difference (bar halo wars) I wouldn’t have noticed. They are all absolutely brilliant games.

The major games have been in development for 3+ years anyway.

That is essentially what i just said but from a logical/indifferent point of view lolol

Certain Affinity

Guys I’m the only one who do not miss firefight? It was nice in ODST but it was a garbage in Reach. Spartan Ops at least have a story and it’s way more better than the pointless firefight. It’s based on the same thing, you must clean the whole mission to complete. Firefight also do not match up with Halo 4, not like Spartan Ops. It’s because the story. In ODST or in Reach this was an understandable option because the Covenant invasion but in Halo 4 there is no space for it. Simply think about that, there is no way where unlimited Storm Covenant can came not like it’s predecessor. Also why the Infinity just leave some Spartan IV in trouble without help? It’s completely pointless. Last but not least, the console called Xbox 360 is really old now, it’s a 7 years old system. Games like Halo 4 needs a bigger requirement to be totally unleashed. The thing we can play new games on this outdated system is nearly magical. Try to understand it.

Gameplay > story

Also, note how I said on “next-gen” hardware in the comments.
Then make firefight have a mix of Covies AND Prometheans.
It doesn’t make sense in ODST because there wasn’t NEARLY as many covies left in the city as there is that entire fleet of storm covies.
I’m just hoping it returns, and the majority agree they would rather Reach’s firefight over Spartan Ops. At least firefight has more replayability.

Maybe it’s my own option but I think pointless shooting never-ever got any replayability. Do you know numbers about Covenant forces invaded Earth? And what about the Storm’s fleet? We only know the fact Storm Covenant is just the shadow of it’s predecessor. Firefight was a great experience at it’s time but I can agree if they sacrifice it for something better like Spartan Ops. Spartan Ops can bring everything that firefight did expect infinite rocket launchers, jet-packs and invulnerability. If you think there is no challenge in Spartan Ops then make challenges for yourself like I did. Try to make every mission flawless on at least Heroic in Season 1 or something like this. Folks just need to discover the opportunities of Spartan Ops unless they saying it’s bad. Don’t get me wrong, your words are good you speak right. I respect you, but it’s a clear fact, Firefight is pointless. I can’t imagine firefight and Spartan Ops can work at the same time. It will slice the already decreasing population and eventually one of those options will kill the other.

See I was thinking about this last night as I was playing Halo 4. If they did it that way we could have both SOps and FF. But then again if you reuse spaces like that or like what 343i did with season 1 (which is COMPLETELY understandable btw) you’ll piss off IGN. www.youtube.com/watch?v=N_fqpI_-dQo

I respect the OPs opinion.

But.

To me (not counting ODST) FF was the most repetitive thing to happen in halo…same load outs…if its normal arcade which it was 90% of the time then it was fuel rod spam fest. Plus it was basically the same enemies spawning in the same spots. I found it fun but I would not want it to take up time/space on the next game that could be used for other game types etc etc bla bla bla…just my outlook.

Agreed! Miss FF  Much more fun then SO

Spartan ops kind of failed. I mean I enjoy it but let’s be honest here… They designed it to be a co op experience yet did nothing to fix the lag. Not entirely smart if you ask me.

I would like to see firefight return in the future.

There is an easy way to put Firefight and Spartan Ops together. Firefight is just simulated survival training, and Spartan Ops is the real mission deployments. Both can be fitted in with an easy explanation in the canon. And I do agree OP, it would make Halo 4 and possibly 5 much more enjoyable.

I think we should have Firefight copy-pasted from Reach with the new maps and weapons, a playlist for all of 343’s new versions of Multiplayer, a playlist for Multiplayer copy-pasted from Halo 3, with the new maps and weapons, and have Spartan Ops be exactly like Co-Op Campaign, with checkpoints and skull options, but with the loadouts. Loadouts don’t mess up Spartan Ops in the least.

I don’t care if it takes 3 months, but if 343 would just make this ridiculously simple fix, I think everyone would be happy.

It’s because the hardware has reached it’s limits.

I tough Spartans whose plays War Games are trained for every kind of situation. The biggest enemy they can found is an other Spartan. There is no reason to do this because of “survival training”. War Games pretty much did everything, no need to change.

Now that season 1 of SpOPS is over its not really that fun replaying the missions, this is where firefight would fit in, it has more replay value. Plus you can customize it.
