I’m a halo veteran, I played since the beginning of time! Yes I loved CTF in every Halo game. But what CTF is lacking is 100% Teamwork without having to DROP THE FLAG. I’m sick of seeing all these posts about The quick juggle or the Jump and Juggle? In my opinion I think that is Dumb and really just doesn’t make sense with Halo.
The New CTF
The reasons why I like it…
It makes the Game Harder.
It makes the Game more Fast paced.
Promotes you to use your TEAM instead of doing it by yourself.
You have a strong pistol and to me seems like you walk a little faster with the Flag.
Its all about Team Strategy.
The key to winning any big team CTF game is communication.
Flag Juggling frequently annoys other players because the announcer will continue to say "Flag Dropped, Flag Taken. It gives away your position for a barely noticeable speed boost
I think Flag Juggling takes away from everything above.
The fact is that when people realize that picking up the flag means becoming (almost) defenseless for the remainder of there flag run, they just wont pick the flag up any more.
If I have a power weapon, and I’m the only one closest to the flag, I’m not picking it up. That’s giving the enemy a free power weapon. Bring back flag drop, 343i. Also, now things are more predictable because we have a constant waypoint over our heads. No more fake-outs and stealth flag-grab.
Sure, it’s faster paced, but at what costs? CTF was supposed to be a slower paced type of game than say, Slayer. I didn’t see any problems with the old system.
I am sure there will be variants for the new CTF and classic CTF as there will be playlist variants to get plain vanilla Halo without all the new specializations, armor abilities, loadouts, etc and weapons already placed on the map. I personally welcome the new CTF as flagsassinations and shooting a magnum in one hand and carrying the flag in another will make this much more inviting and add a new twist to an old favorite.

I agree but you need to kill there whole team then get the flag you’ll be fine, I think I will come up with new ways of playing and I’m excited.
What about the ability to drop the flag and fight with my teammates?
What about the ability to evade or stealth run a flag during a counter push? I use this when on a team of randoms and it can literally change the course of the game.
Any how I’m willing to trail these things for the sake of objective gaining popularity. There will also be classic playlists so I’m sure we’re in for the best of both worlds.
Note to mods - maybe some merging of these topics is in order?
I am going to go out on a limb and be one of the very few people who is going to approach this new twist on CTF with an open mind, not a closed fist.
Adding in classic options for these objective gametypes is also something i would support, even if i don’t end up playing them 90 percent of my game time spent on Halo 4.

Yeah, I’m trying to keep an open mind too. I’ll play it first, then decide. I will say that I’d definitely like the option to change it in customs. If the old way is still preferred, they could easily implement it without a patch or anything too time-consuming. I do find it interesting, though.
Flag juggling was only used in order to move the flag faster. It was taken the same place with the same strategies, only faster. Thus speeding gameplay up.
From what I understand, and it might not be true, you run the same speed with the flag as without. This will take away the need for juggling.
And not being able to drop the flag doesn’t only take away juggling, but loads of other aspects of the game.

There are simply better simpler solutions to the issue of flag juggling. Automatic pickups and not being able to drop the flag is not a solution. How about keep it just the way it is in Reach but have dropping the flag drop the flag vertically downwards at the point you released it, i.e. there is no throwing possible at all.
343is fix to the issues of CTF would be like trying to address the issue of melee bleed through by removing melee altogether. It’s way too over the top.
