When I say this I don’t necessarily mean keep them in the default MMing experience. That’s a diffierent discussion all together.
But keep the option of Armor Abilities in H4.
Why?
Because not everything about Halo is about competitive or hyper-competitiveness, because it gives me more options to make and play crazy gametypes.
Take Dino Blasters for instance. Remove the AAs and that gametype looses some of it’s charm. You can certainly still play it but just running around the map with Concussion Rifles as Elites isn’t the same thing. It’s a little more competitive sure since you’re restricted to the map and have to play by it’s flow. But it’s a little less fun.
After witnessing a particular aspect of the Plasma Launcher for it’s rounds to bounce of Shield Doors, Laser Doors, and Drop Shields I made a gametype revolving around just that. Without Drop Shield the gametype and map play largely the same, but it’s still not the same experience since you can’t plop a Drop Shield down to send the rounds flying around chaotically.
People have been yelling, crying and screaming about how AAs ruined their default matchmaking experience and because of that, AAs should be removed from the game entirely. While I think they are wrong that is besides the point. They haven’t successfully argued for the removal of AAs from the game. They have presented their case why AAs ruin their fun. But only where the part of the game they play. They haven’t argued that AAs haved ruin my Custom Game experience.
And they can’t. They literally can not tell my that my personal taste is wrong for me because they are not me.
So keep AAs 343.
Removing them from the game will unnessecarily punish me and the rest of the players who enjoy them and the options they create for us. Besides. You don’t need to remove AAs from the game to give the haters what they want by removing them from default MMing.
Keep them out of competitive multiplayer matchmaking (I.e. Default Gametypes), but go buck wild with them everywhere else. Invasion, Firefight, Campaign, Customs…All great opportunities for AAs.

Eh, I’d rather not have them in Campaign. Especially since they stated that the AA technology was lost on Reach. It needs to stay lost.

Would you agree to keep them in whatever social version of Team Slayer rolls around?
> Also, why have AAs in Halo 4 if Reach will only be 2 years old?

> When people didn’t like the revious Halos, didn’t they go back to the last? Halo Reach will still be fairly new.
When the next Halo released the previous title’s population all but died. The same thing is presumed to happen to Reach. Not to mention that H4 may bring in new, well liked features.
Yes keep AAs 343!! screw those overly competitive people, it’s a futuristic shooter ffs… add in every epic spacey feature imaginable and if you feel like forcing them into competitve team slayer then go right ahead lol

i 100% disagree competitive people make halo what it is

They both sped up gameplay(at times) AND slowed it down. But the ratio of speed-up:slow-down was about 1:3. Also, when it DID speed it up, it did it in the worst ways… Like using the jetpack to break solid map control. Sure, it sped it up, but it completely ruined the effort that the team put into controlling the map. (Yet another way Reach “stacked the deck” against competitive gamers…)
Haha, what a thread. If Halo 4 had AAs and bloom I wouldn’t even buy it. It would just be keeping the things that trounced the skill gap that CE first established.
