Hi xxMrTwoChainsxx here. I have been playing halo since it came out in 2001 and have been playing halo anniversary/reach the past few years because 4 was not good in my opinion. I like the fact that your rank on halo 5 goes up after some wins, but what happens when you lose 5 times in a row because your teammates will not work together and you havent met any good players yet? Well what happens is you get a great k/d trying to bust your butt to win they game and end up losing and all that hard work goes down the drain! Play together people so I can rank up lol. Or can some good players send a request and give me a chance because it’s worth it. I’ve hung with some of the best the best. BuRRR GucCI, “godsquad”
If you make it K/D to rank up, it’s just gonna be a camp fest. It HAS to be wins for the sake of gameplay. Play in a team if you’re worried about the ranks. That’s what I (and most) people do.

I like the W/L approach to ranking up, a lot. I think it’s really the only way to ensure teamwork throughout the match, but I think one thing could be done…and I’ll explain
Here is a Slayer post game:
TEAM ONE:
Player 1 - 20-5
Player 2 - 15-10
Player 3 - 10-12
Player 4 - 5-15
TEAM TWO
Player 5 - 15-10
Player 6 - 10-12
Player 7 - 9-15
Player 8 - 6 - 11
Now obviously TEAM ONE would rank up but I think the top 50% of the team (Player 1 and 2) should get the full rank up like it is now. I think the bottom 50% (Player 3 and 4) should only get half of the rank up. So its taking the win and distributing it according to place within the team. Players 3 and 4 would still get some rank, but only half of what 1 and 2 would.
TEAM TWO would rank down but I think it should be a similar situation. Players 7 and 8 now would get the full rank down because they are in the bottom 50% of the team, and Players 5 and 6 would only get half of a rank down because they did place in the top 50%.
If you didnt want to do it based purely on KD, you can do for every 2 assists, it grants you an additional kill in your post game. So the teamwork element is still there, you are getting rewarded for the assists, but the ranking is distributed evenly through out the team.
So the W/L is still in place, but the amount you go up/down depends on where you placed on the team…I think this is totally fair and still holds the W/L system they have in place.

Obtain friends. This will result in higher win rate until you peak with your groups skill level.

So if I’m on the winning the team and we’re all evenly matched as a team… The gap between our scores is say… Two… I’m going to get HALF of the rank because I missed the cut, but did the same amount of work?
maybe the guy in second got the game winning kill from under my nose… I should have to suffer for that? No. the team that plays together, ranks together.
What about a game like CTF, where the leaderboard ranks are based off of captures? If I’m defending the base, shutting out the other team, I get less rank because I was doing my part, playing as a TEAM?
No one would defend in that case. In fact, I could see the flag carrier getting betrayed right. Before the game winning capture. The system is fine the way it is.
P.S. 3 assists = 1 kill on the spread. Making them worth 2 would be counter-productive.

> I’m glad you asked. CTF would be based off caps/cap assists, and carrier kills/assists. So if you happen to be a defending type of player you’re not penalized for that. 2 carrier kills = 1 cap, 2 carrier kill assists = 1 carrier kill. Secondary would be KD just like slayer.

Try joining a spartan company. Works reasonably well.

Reach tried the K/D/performance to it’s Arena ranking and it was terrible. You had much more betraying over power weapons because the more kills you have the more rank you gain. W/L should be the only determinant if people rank up or down. Nothing else. This promotes the highest amount of team play.
As an example above me with all those stats, it seems you forgot to add assists. I don’t care if someone goes 20-5. That person could have 2 assists while the other teammates have 10+ assists. No one should be penalized because they had high assists, but low kills. A win is a win and a loss is a loss. Simple as that.

In the third paragraph after the stats i did mention that every 2 assists would equal 1 kill. That was just a solution for the people that are makinig the argument that KD should rank you up. i dont agree with the whole KD ranking thing. I would have no problem with what I proposed above though because you are still being ranked as a team, just half get a full bump and the other half get a half bump. It’s really not offensive it’s literally giving you the W/L system with a bonus for being in the top 50% of the team.
What do you have to prove? Are you trying to use rank as a means to gain access into these mythical Halo tournaments for big money? Because otherwise rank and K/D are nothing than a visual que to prove your better than someone, and Halo needs LESS of that.
Ranking off of K/D would be a terrible idea.
- Teammates would betray you for the power weapons - Everyone would be come more campy - Teammates wouldn’t worry about saving your life if they know they can get the kill after you die - With your “Half Up” thinking a game where my team is 13,13,12,12 The two twelves would get shafted, for what? because they had one less kill? Stupid! - Every gametype would devolve into “what gets me as an individual the most points” instead of “How can a get my team to win”
Play as a team, Win as a team.
If you are having problems finding a team here are some things you can do.
- Always have a mic on. If people hear you they are more likely to talk to you - After a match if you played with someone that did well and you liked playing with, send them a message asking if they would like to join your fireteam. Make it a personal message and not some robotic pre-scripted message. - Don’t be discouraged if people don’t join you. Some people only play with friends they know.
