Imo the input doesn’t matter so much because I’ve seen really good MKB players. It’s bloody Bloom, and always has been.
While Bloom is also bad for Controller, it also makes up for it with AA and Bullet Mag. MKB doesn’t enjoy any of that and Bloom just consistently screws with your aim for no reason other than to add randomness to your shots.
Nothing is more infuriating than to have your reticule trained perfectly on the target but Bloom decides “nope”. And we don’t even have AA to help us follow up, we have to microadjust by ourselves.
Halo Infinite is supposed to be “Combat Evolved”. The mouse is an evolved form of aiming compared to the controller stick. Everyone would agree raw aim of a pro mouse player would own a pro controller player. So why has Halo Infinite decided to not “evolve”? NOOOBS!!!
Seriously though, can we at least have 4-man Open Mouse-only matches? But the queue would probably be even longer than the current queue for Solo/Duo mouse.
Change the starting weapon in ranked to the Season 2 nerfed Mangler.
OR
Reduce the TTK time-to-kill by 1 burst so it’s easier to achieve Perfects with Mouse.
OR
Give PC players the same aim assist (I mean, wouldn’t everyone want to see the whole game at the next level with epic shots and grapples? lol)
KBM players complaining about controllers having an advantage never gets old. KBM players always feel they should have an advantage. If you think it really does, then use a controller.
With that being said, there isnt some perfect middle ground unfortunately. Controller response time isnt anywhere close to KBM, and giving KMB aim assist/lower controller aim assist isnt the answer either. There are advantages to both inputs honestly, but the truth is, crossplay should be able to be turned off.
Maybe 343 should try out a ranked crossplay playlist where aim assist is reduced. That way you don’t affect 85% of the casual player base. Pro players don’t care about aim assist since they all know it’s overpowered and they still have everything that makes them a pro. Except now they will face pro M/K players. Instead pro players are rumored to leave because nobody cares about this game.
Yes, they should also reduce input responsoiveness on KBM. SMH. The only good answer is allow for turning off crossplay. People need to stop trying to nerf controller.
The bit about what we perceive as “bullet magnetism” is the really big reason in discrepancy, I think. I don’t begrudge aim assist at all.
The generosity in how far off the reticle is in acquiring a headshot for controller versus m&kb is out of this world. It also seems to make shots much more consistent at long range when unscoped in particular. I plug in controller sometimes to complete the Perfect Kills challenge and it always blows me away at how my shots are landing, or getting kills, when it wouldn’t count for anything with a mouse.
I’m not sure the solution is to buff the magnetism for mouse but I’m also certain that it shouldn’t be nerfed for controllers. I do wonder what could be addressed to improve with this.
Only 13 percent of Halo players have played ranked. I’m not trying to nerf controller for 90% of the population. You should be able to disable crossplay. I’m not even trying to nerf controller for ranked either. However for those who want a challenge there should be a playlist that balances the inputs.
Halo released in 2001 without online multiplayer. Gearbox ported the game to Windows and Mac in 2003 with online multiplayer supporting up to 16 players. Halo 2 and the first Gears of War was also on PC. When Don Mattrick took over Xbox he stopped Halo coming to PC in order to sell more Xbox’s. His leadership almost ruined Xbox. The disaster of Xbox One sank Halo.
Halo is not a console game! It never was meant to be a console game. The original Xbox was practically an accident.
Make Halo controller and mouse balanced (in one playlist is all I’m asking). I play both inputs. If I could play myself I would win 70% of the time using controller.
You can say its not a console game, but it absolutely is. Its where most people who have played Halo in the past have played Halo. Halo CE had local MP, which a lot of people played. Is Halo 5 on PC?
I think your numbers are way off on 90% of people havent played ranked. Whererver you got those numbers, id bet that its based on the entirety of people who have registered an account in Halo, not the people who actually play on a regular basis.
Also, ranked is where balance is this most important. Controller vs. KBM is as balanced as its going to get. Controller response times are dwarfed compared to KBM. Its hilarios that this might be one of the only times that controller has the ability to compete with KBM, and KBM users cant handle it.
Nerf controller aim assist, but also nerf movement response time for keyboard and mouse? Block macros on KBM as well? There will never be a perfect middle ground. The best thing they can do is allow for disabling cross play. It definitely shouldnt exist in ranked.
There was also XboxConnect to play online for Halo CE on console. Your point doesnt change that Halo has primarily been a console game. If you dont see that, you are lieing to yourself. I dont know what to tell you, most players played Halo on console.
Yeah, because so many people sit and use a KBM on console…its likely 95-99% of users who buy a console do it to use a controller. Its absolultely a crossplay issue.
I’m using mouse and keyboard on an Xbox Series X. You aren’t building a PC that’s equivalent to an XSX for $500.
I grew up playing Halo: Custom Edition. People made maps that were viable for competitive play. They were straight up better than Bungie’s. And the game played great on mouse despite the fact you had to lead your shots due to the terrible net code.
I’m getting my stats based on the achievements statistics. They might have changed with time but when I last checked not many play ranked.
I don’t know what you mean by macros? This isn’t League of Legends. It’s a shooter. You point and shoot, swap weapons, use equipment.
I can juggle the flag better than most pros with mouse and keyboard. That’s the only advantage mouse and keyboard has over controller that I have found. That’s because you have to hold X to pick the flag up instead of tapping. I also turn really fast using a controller. Set sens to 6-7 and acceleration to 4. You turn as fast as a mouse honestly with the advantage of locking on quickly to a target.
