Back when I was a whipper-snapper, during days of Naruto and Ninja Gaiden, the katana was my best friend. However, It served no functionality and lost it’s glint in the sun about 10 minutes after having it. This is my problem with armor, and addon-goodies in general; It’s cool for ten seconds, then it is just meh after that.

OT: There won’t be a katana, with a k, in H4 because the katana and the Hyabusa Armor are from a cross promotional deal done with Team Ninja and their fighting game Dead or Alive. As part of that deal, Bungie put in Ryu Hyabusa looking armor into the game and Team Ninja put a Spartan into their fighter.
For 343 to put it into H4, they would need to get permission from Team Ninja again because it’s their IP.

The katana was a gem for Halo 3, I really hope they don’t bring it back, and I don’t see 343i doing so anyway.
