Dear 343i, would you consider to add the katana as a melee weapon i halo 5 ?? Maybe only in multiplayer as a non canon weapon, as was the golf “stick” in halo 3 or the hammer in halo 4.

I suggest they do what they did with the golf club,just make it a reskin for the energy sword.

How about for assassinations? In Reach elites pull out an energy sword for the assassination animation.
There’s literally zero need for one because we already have the Energy Sword.

Considering how the Katana IRL is somewhat of a crumby sword to use in a practical fight, i really doubt it should be a melee weapon in halo.

No no and NO. I always hated that idiotic katana in halo 3 but I could come up with several arguments other than it being stupid as for why it should not be a melee weapon. First off, the shotgun already fills the niche of close ranged UNSC weapon.
If you want it for forge and machinima reasons then I think it still isn’t a good idea but if it was a reskin of the energy sword similar to the golf club approach in halo 3 then I guess that would be fine.

The reskin approach would be the most logical without having to change the current sandbox.
As a non-canon approach this would be great. Adding it to the canon would be a pain like others ahead of me have said. Just go with a reskin.
