Im about to quit playing. Ive been trying so hard to get my K/d out of the negative and keep failing. Every match im in I cant seem to get kills off wether its from spawning in front of someone or i just cant seem to kill the other guy. Im close to quiting and never coming back to Halo or any other first person shooter for that matter. Ive for a -2.4 ratio with 424 kills and 626 deaths. Seems a pit one sided. I cant play team slayer cuzz i get put on the lossing team everytime, i try free for all and still cant win a match. Best ive gotten is 2nd. So i really dont know what to do now. People say keep practicing and youll get better. Sure doesnt seem like that.
Just try to have fun. You’ll get better with time.

Hard to have fun when you get kill most of the time
Playing games for K/D sucks. Play games for fun man, but then again if you lose all the time it wouldn’t be to fun.
Trying to play for K/D would be mind numbing and suck out all the fun of the game.

Don’t quit. I’m fighting the good fight as well. Feel free to add me or others on Waypoint. Teammates help in this crazy game.
TBH, I don’t think this will get better for you. All the game types are competitive and with the ranking it makes you look worse when your team loses and you go negative.
That sucks man. Hope things start going your way. Think of how rewarding it will be if you keep at it and have a nice K/D one day.

After 2-3 weeks your KD really doesn’t change, at least not much in either direction. There are limited maps and it’s not like you’ll be matched against a whole team of noobs. It is what it is in Halo 5.
Halo Team Slayer is and always has been a crucible of pain. Some people thrive in that kind of environment and some don’t. Some of those who don’t can be very self-critical, imagining that the only reason they fail where so many others succeed is because they’re worthless and weak.
You are not worthless and you are not week. Most people don’t succeed at Team Slayer and the only reason you don’t realize this is because of some quirks of ranking and skill-based matchmaking which are artificially putting you on the wrong side of a lot of matches. More on how to fix this later.
Team Slayer is a very stylized and unrealistic form of virtual combat. That statement isn’t intended to be a “pro” or “con” statement - it’s meant to be judgment-free, and is just my opinion. There are rituals and patterns to 4v4 game play that come naturally to some players and not to others. A player can understand these rituals and patterns and still find them to be non-intuitive, difficult, repetitive, or all of the above. There’s no shame in not taking to this form of combat like a duck to water. There’s no shame in deciding to take it less seriously. There’s no shame in walking away from the rank grind altogether.
This is all a very long-winded and roundabout way of saying that you should be playing more Warzone and less Arena. Or at the very least you should wait and give Big Team Battle a try. Personally I’d go Warzone. That is a game type that can be anything you want it to be. It allows you to find out which aspects of the game appeal to you, which you have an affinity for, and concentrate on those. If you find you have particular weaknesses it can also be a good place to practice those skills in an environment that is slower-paced and less stressful than the hyper-competitive -Yoink–storm of 4v4.
However, if you’re determined to keep to the Arena then you should carefully consider how the system has contributed to your repeated bludgeonings, and whether there is anything you can do to work the system to your own advantage. Ultimately your difficulties in TS do not arise from the fact that you are worse than most others players, or that you are worse than the average player. It arises from the fact that the system has made a mistake in assessing your abilities (whether they are good or not) and is matching you consistently with players against whom you are not competitive. How the system made this mistake is beside the point. The point is to make sure that if the system is going to misjudge you that it judge you to be worse than you are and not better. If the system places you too low on the rank ladder then it will move you up over time as it observes your successes. But if it judges you too high, as it appears to have done, then you’re stuck in that division with no way to rank back down to a level at which you can again be competitive. The moral of the story is that, when the season re-sets, during your ten placement matches, you really shouldn’t try too hard to be the best of the best. It can obviously work against you in the long run.
Best of luck whatever path you choose. But if I was you, and I am, then I’d choose Warzone.

War Zone gets stale pretty quickly if that’s all you’re playing b/c you can’t play well in the other games.
See if my over all -2.4 k/d doesnt get any better it not much fun. Not to mention embarrassing.
Well you’ll definitely want to stay far away from SWAT. It’s the least forgiving of all the game types and you can get wrecked pretty quickly.
Not sure if it helps but I started with 8 friends and I’m the only one left playing. 2 went to BO3, 3 went to Fallout 4 and the other 3 who are more casual will be playing Star Wars BF. I’d consider SW if I were in your shoes.
Practice in warzone, takes the pressure off for a start. Don’t chase bosses, just practice magnum/BR head shots while the other team are distracted. Don’t run into the centre bases if the enemy have them, sit back and practice long range hits.
Ex, Ark - after the armoury capture the enemy run blind at the garage, sit on the rock.
Generally find spots and points in the games that will have them distracted, like fighting a boss, just shoot the enemy instead. Armouries are great to camp with short range inside and long range above, unlimited ammo too. Don’t run in and take cover when you need it.
all good duck hunt practice

It’s only Warzone for now. BTB arrives in… what? a couple of days? Forge and customs before the end of the year. There’s plenty to do in Halo without having to be good at Team Slayer. And as I said before, not being good as TS is not the OP’s problem. It’s being matched incorrectly that’s screwing over his experience. And, as I also said, there’s a fix for that one too.

You could switch to Warzone. It’s easier to ensure favorable engagements and the AI enemies does add to your overall kills.
That being said, you really should try focus on having fun and not on stats.

I feel like you should get your own cutscene in the next halo. You could be “Z 3 R O - the Arena handler” and inspire us all.
Listen, just keep playing and you’ll get better. I know that isn’t saying much considering my KDA isn’t too great either, but I once shared your pain. When I played the beta, I was pretty bad, but I kept playing. After a week or so, I was wrecking scrubs going positive every match. In the final game, they moved weapon locations, added and removed some weapons, and changed the aim acceleration, so I’ll just have to do it all over again. It might even take weeks because now I don’t have any time to play during the weekdays, but I’ll still keep playing on the weekends.
If you ever get frustrated in Slayer, just stop playing it and come back later. I was amazed at how much better I did once I was calm and actually possessed the ability to have fun.

Maybe you keep getting placed on the losing teams because your k/d is -2.5?
