Something I’ve seen happening since Reach is:
Some players get as many as 20 kills, yet they get 19 deaths (KD spread = 1). And they’re awarded big points.
Some others kill as many as 12, but only 4 deaths (KD spread = 8), yet they get less points.
My point: why KD spread is so unimportant for awarding process?
I’d rather have a teammate who gets good KD spread than a guy that kills 30 but gets killed 30 times as well…
A good KD spread is indicative a player is skilled.
What am I missing here???
Because they contributed the most to the team kill wise. If you need 50 kills to win and one out of four people on a team put up half of the kills then they deserve the points…
They are completing the objective. When you start a game it goes “Slayer!” “Get kills to win”. It is not hard to understand?
Getting kills is the name of the game! You might have gone 12-4 for a higher spread, but without the 20 kills from your teammate, you would have lost (or at least have been further away from the 50 kills needed).
The argument could be made that because your teammate died more often than you, they were essentially helping the other team, but you must understand that if your teammate could kill the opposing team 20 times (and die 19) you should be more active in assisting said teammate and limiting his deaths instead of sitting back and worrying about your spread.
More often than not, if you have a teammate leading your team in kills but also in deaths, that just means you and the other members of your team aren’t being active enough as teammates.
Simply put, if your teammate doesn’t have a problem killing the other team - and you’re saying you’re “more skilled” (because of your better spread) - you shouldn’t have a problem killing the other team…and again, killing the other team is the entire point of Slayer…that’s why kills are rewarded and spread is not.
Spread is important. I always want people on my team who stay positive - the more the better - but kills are more important.

HULK POST! haha. I made the same point. OP might as well have asked “Why get rewarded for returning the flag in CTF?”
OK.
I’m pretty sure I didn’t explain at large my point:
I’ll rephrase the question (Which is more intended as a complaint to 343)
Why have a KD spread counter in team slayer if is not to be given any importance at all?
I don’t care for KD spread in other types of slayer.
My average killing count in Reach’s team slayer was around 14. I´m used to get +4 to +6 each time. Not impressive, uh?, but it’s an average.
My point: as a team member I give my best to stay alive while killing as many enemies as I can.
Now then: if I get 14 kills and I get killed only 9 times (+5), and a team mate kills 15 and gets 15 times killed, he gets plenty of points more than me.
That was only an example, coz more often than that teammates leading in killings lead as well in deaths. I won’t run behind that teammate trying to “support” him better and get killed in a dumb fashion during the process.
The argument here: a guy who gets a zero KD spread when killing 49 enemies, is as good as working for them and deserves to be somehow penalized to a poor KD performance.
If KD spread was to be given importance at all in team slayer, ppl would be more prone to play team.
I see this happening again in Halo 4.
Now…

I’m sorry… I don’t see anywhere the question “Why get rewarded for killing in slayer?”
Do you?
No strategy to win should ever be used when in team slayer?
The troops don’t win battles by storming into a battlefield with no strategy at all.
(Quote) “It is not hard to understand?”
Is it?
