K/D Ratio?

What’s up Halo champions,
I don’t know if this has been spoke of, but I really think it would benefit everyone if there was an ongoing and visible kill/death ratio to look at on everyone’s profile.
Anyone know if this will be in Halo 4 or not?
Or do you agree or disagree?
Thanks,
haloXcell

Watch out man, you’re about to get flamed by people who “just want to have fun” and who “don’t want to be judged by their K/D because they use to be terrible but are much better now”.

I’d like to see K/D crawl into a corner and die. It encourages egotistical players to just farm kills rather than helping the team with the actual objective.

A few points about K/D:

  • High K/D may mean you are a very good player. It could also mean, you are a banshee/sniper whr . It could mean you never help with objective grabs etc. K/D is not necessarily an indicator of skill. It is just as likely an indicator of a selfish player.

  • Nobody cares about your K/D except you.

  • Drivers, flag carriers etc do not have their contribution to a team fairly indicated by showing K/D.

naw ppl aren’t worthy enough to look at my .10 K/D ratio

I would rather not have it in the game, but if it’s kept, they should at least give option to hide it from other players (Both in-game and Halo Waypoint site) to avoid “lol your argument is invalid, you have worse K/D than me” kids in the forums. Plus like said before, some people try to boost the K/D by not going for the objective in Capture the Flag and such.

I don’t know about it. It’s easy enough to check anyway…actually I agree with you. It would be a nice addition, but would give stat-flaming a whole new platform

How? I’m curious

You can pretty much work it out already by going to someone’s service record and checking their total kills compared to their deaths to give you a rough estimate.

Ahhh…I never thought of it that way!
Good point!
Okay…what about this question:
I think during the Halo 2 days, it never showed how many people were online playing at the time, which to me, it felt like millions were playing all the time. But now, it seems with the visual # of how many players are online, some people lose interest because it’s NOT millions.
So question, would it be better to NOT show how many people are online playing?
If so, why?
Thanks,

Yes, I’m aware of taking…
# of Kills
Divided by
# of Deaths
To get the ratio…just thought it would be cool to just look at the #, I just thought if there was a visible k/d ratio to look at, most players would try to focus on not dying as much to improve their game.
But then again, I guess that will just come with time right?

Sure

The more stats the better

Maybe make it an option
As some People wouldn’t want this and some would love it

But really im fine if its not shown – as in Reach SOME KIDS CARE way to much about it

Ignoring the obvious stat/weapon -Yoink!- and not measuring driver/objective roles, here’s why K/D is stupid from a mathematical perspective:

120K over 100D = 1.2 K/D

Assume this person goes 10/5 each game.

130/105 = 1.238

140/110= 1.272

150/115=1.304

Hell, let’s have him go +1 each game with 5/4

100/100=1.0

105/104=1.009

110/108=1.018

115/112=1.026

120/116=1.034

There’s no improvement in peformance, but this person’s K/D is increasing. As time goes on, this guy’s K/D is just going to get higher and higher. This is, in essence, similar to only judging playtime, like credits. There’s just a chance to have this number fall, but it’s most likely not going to happen unless the person is awful at the game.

People are more likely to get better the longer they play, anyway. Earlier records over two years old impact current records even if the person has gotten better.

Maybe have different types of K/D stats. Like one that shows all time K/D, while others show more recent ones like your K/D for the month.

That way those who weren’t so good in the beginning, but got much better over time won’t have to be ashamed of their score.

I think that last X number of games would work better. That way, it’d be a consistent and up to date average, and the person who plays twice a month and has 40 K and 2 D for the month doesn’t have a 20 K/D.

Interesting…I like this idea…

Having a certain K/D for one month, when the new month start’s up, it’s a clean slate and you can get a new K/D

I can see this working in multiple ways;

  1. The Pros:
If they keep a consistent high K/D or lose some, they learn, they improve, they get better and make their K/D better. Further, it would be like a track record and something to show off here and there to show their skill to others, possibly even for Pro Team Recruitment.

  2. The Noobs:
New players would be able to get a feel of their stand point and with each moth be able to learn and see their progress and push to make it better with each month.

  3. The Casuals:
No real care, but it’s there as a trophy piece.

  4. The Arguments:
No more K/D arguments, they become rather null and void in arguments here and there. Sorta…I mean…Human’s are Human’s and we do have Ego’s, even if some are more inflated than others over a statistic on a video game.

  5. Game Placement:
Would allow you to be placed and routed into games with people who share your K/D, hence the fairness level to all sides.

I see this being quite the ground breaking idea to be honest.

i want it to be gone forever so that k/d whores dont see it and play the objective

A recent K/D stat would be great for matchmaking purposes. If you are really feeling it that particular month/week/whatever, you get paired with others who share a similar score. That way a match is always competitive, rather than just relying on rank to match people up (which is bad, like if you leveled up in the beginning, left the game for a while, came back, and found your skills had rusted).

But I don’t want people to see my .57 K/D because it makes me feel bad. everything would be much better if it was removed so I could feel better, and still be bad and even get worse without people noticing!

not trying to brag, but this is my one month because my xbox broke and -Yoink!- gave me a free one month for all the trouble.
