K/D Ratio

I heard that when the bungie.net stats are absorbed so to speak by halo waypoint they are going to get rid of the K/D stat.

Is this true? Could anyone direct me to a link with the official word?

If they do than I will be happy. It will be back to playing the game and not caring what your K/D is. I.E. Good old fashioned Halo.

Highly unlikely.
Your K/D ratio is accounted for within the game itself, it isn’t going away.
Even if they removed it from the stats page on Waypoint, you could easily check someone’s service record in game to see the total kills and total deaths. A little math and there’s your K/D.

Well if 343i is doing halo.xbox.com and they are doing halo 4 than it could be a sign of things to come.

Me. I have been playing halo since halo ce/halo pc. I have over 100,000 kills in halo and I am rather frustrated by the fact I have a 1.6 even though most pro’s have 1.5+. I wish I would have watched it more in halo 3 and kind of suffer because of it.

However it is a stat that I feel is needed.

Your k/d can be found on this site anyway

It isn’t ‘needed’ per say, but it’s helpful. I use it to see whether my teammates are decent or not and how i should expect the game to play out. More often than not, I’m right. Quick little peek at each of their service record, about half a second of figuring out the percentile, and bam. It doesnt change how I play but it gives me an idea of how my teammates potentially will.

Every, if not, most shooters nowadays have a recorded K/D. Some people just care far too much about it.

I won’t say I don’t care about it but I’m not going to kill teammates to score a kill here or there. That said, I certainly care enough that I’m not gonna throw myself off a cliff multiple times because a match is going bad. And I’ve seen that often.

Not sure where you heard that, but the only thing that’s been officially announced as happening is that Bungie.net will stop recording/calculating things as of April 1st. Where as Waypoint will continue to track those stats as they have for some time now.

You’re so right, completely removing any and all incentive to improve and decimating the last shred of motivation there was to play this game is exactly what we need to do.

wat

Actually now we have all halo games K/D then Reach K/D

That won’t stop me from objective holding

That’d be lame. K/D is literally the only thing I play for now.

Kd is still displayed on HWP

If you need stats to justify your time spent playing a game you’re a sad person indeed.

Good players play for the win not stats, the later often but not always being a prelude to the former much of the time.

Reach stats are as meaningless as they come because of the poor matchmaking that is easily exploited for boosting/griefing/HTO.

wtf, you know why most pros have 1.5s right? because they play other pros and average 1.1s in MLG and Arena.

I consider myself pretty good, I have 100k kills and a 2.1 in social, I also have onyx in arena. But I know good and well, if all I played was MLG (which I hardly play in the first place), I might not even be positive.

1.6 is nothing in social, with all the guests and vehicles and what not.

So true.

I’ll reiterate this again. When they updated the stats on Waypoint they added another K/D stat. Why would they add in another one if they planned to remove them all together? Go take a look at your stats here on Waypoint you’ll see that you have both:

Halo K/D
Reach K/D

So yea K/D will be in our stats. Maybe they’ll remove the Reach K/D but hey that will just give people the incentive to increase the Halo K/D through the Halo title they like most. The Halo K/D is your Halo 2, Halo 3 and Halo: Reach K/D ration and not just one of them in its own slot.

Actually due to vehicles being apart of the game and MLG not playing with them it’s like MLG is admitting not being good enough to adapt to situations where vehicle arise. Also the whole guest thing can be proven wrong due to the fact some guests are actually better than the host account. Also who’s to say MLG doesn’t split screen in hotel rooms to practice and warm up before a match?

I wouldn’t care if they got rid of k/d but I’m sure there would be an uproar from the tryhards.

I hope that 343 DOES get rid of it finally and for good.

It’s easily padded, and too often used by people as a source of some type of skill or quality of a good player, in that ‘OH, I’m better than you’ trash talk.

I know several players with 46.0 K/D or higher, do to BoostBall…400+ kills per game, and that’s pretty much all they play…so get rid of it, and go back to just playing the game, and killing everything that moves that isn’t your team’s color.

Nope. They’re just making it so that Waypoint is the only place to check your k/d.
