K/D Question.

Just how important is K/D to some of you?

I’ve never really cared about mine, to be honest.

I play to have fun. I have more fun when I win or at least do well (by my standards). As long as I don’t go like -15 or something I’m usually happy.

To me personally, not much. If there is any stat I care about it’s win/loss. But having fun ranks above either of those for me.

K/D isn’t important. If you’re the Team’s slayer then it kinda does.

Meh… I care a lot less about it now than I used to. I just play, and as long as I’m positive at then end of the game then I’m happy.

I still think its a pretty decent rough estimate of a players skill though.

Hardly. It just shows your playstyle, that’s it.

If K/D over a week is less than 2, no dessert or snacks for the next week. It’s super serious stuff all the time.

This. Play to have fun and be happy at the end of the game. That’s what I go for. Even if I barely go positive I just don’t want to be a bullet magnet.

Perhaps. I play like an idiot most of the time and still pull a 2+ with ease.

Scenario: 8 players get randomly matched together in a slayer game. On one team all four players have atleast a 2.0 k/d. On the other team not one player has a k/d above 1.0. Which team is going to win?

Honestly, I find myself caring about my K/D more than I’d like to. When you start to care about it a lot it can take away from the fun of the game.

Well, before I cared a LOT about K/D. But now I really don’t care much:
In FFA: If it is Slayer I always go for good K/D or to win. If it is Objective FFA I always try to win even if I end with 1/39, LOL. That’s the same in Team games: If it is Slayer, I always go for good or decent K/D to win and to support my team and in Objective I go for it: I don’t like to “farm” kills in Objective at all.

Yes. I no longer have fun with my friends going in suicide on a warthog on a last attempt to get the flag, or whatever.

Warthog runs aren’t worth it if you aren’t setting the enemy team up for an easy extermination if they have rockets/plasma launchers.

I keep a calculator next to me when I play Reach to calculate my K/D after every game. I think I care.

You do know that your kill death ratio is recorded and calculated here on waypoint right? There is no need to waste time after every game checking to see what yours is when you can play your daily dose then see your progress here.

Don’t care, I play to have fun.

What i find funny is that i dont care about my KD as half as much as other players do.
I play the objective a lot and will go in over and over again trying to plant the bomb or capture the flag regardless of how many times i die.
As an inheritor with negavtive KD i cop comments about how crap i am purely based on my KD but my friends i play with say i am the best team man because i will sacrifice my stats for the win, hold a power weapon for a downed team mate, act as bullet bait so my team can locate the camo sniper, rush the shotgun camper protecting the objective and kill him and myself with a sticky grenade etc etc.

The more I play, the less I care but I used to watch gleefully for every jump by a hundredth of a percentage.

I’m just happy when I check the Carnage Report after finishing a game in MatchMaking and seeing that I didn’t end the match with a negative Kill/Death ratio.

So you’re crap.
