K/D In objective games

So when I found out halo 4 would not record K/D in OBJ games I was sort of indifferent to the choice. But after this weekend playing multi-team on reach for the credit jackpot. My mind is made up and I am very, very thankful for 343’s decision to exclude K/D from OBJ games. I have NEVER seen this many kill farmers in all my time playing halo. It is now very clear to me how a majority of players get such high K/Ds. I must also I have been a ranked advocate on these forums and one of the opposing arguments I often hear is the “you want a rank to hold over ppls head and brag”. Well This K/D boosting to me is way worse. I mean ppl go into game lobbys and brag about their awesome K/D when 90% of the time it isnt even legitimate. At least people have to earn their visible ranks. Idk I guess it isnt such a big deal, I suppose some ppl just feel the need to impress their friends with a fake K/D. To me though, these ppl are pretty much down in the cheating category and the fact they brag about it is worse -_-
hahaha w/e cant wait till halo4 XD

So can you still see your stats at the end of OBJ games, or is it just not added to your overall K/D? Sorry dumb question.

Im pretty sure it works like this… you can see your stats after the game, but they do not get added to your global K/D

Alright cool  I was about to be really sadfaced if you couldn’t view your performance after OBJ games

I’m glad they’ve gone this, the only time though I’ve been spawn killed really is just in grifball matches, whacking people with hammers for 2 mins straight definatley dosen’t show how skilled you are with your K/D spread. This should now really make players more aware of the skill levels their opposition has without them being cheap spawn campers.
And it should make myself feel better when I look at my K/D because I die a lot during objective games lol.

Exactly. Its alot worse in games like oddball and King of the hill. It doesnt take much skill at all to sit outside the hill on a vantage point and farm kills. also these people screw their teamates by not going for the OBJ.

It’s not about a show of skill. I find I help my team greatly by always applying pressure on the hill. You do rack up a bunch of easy kills. It also helps you win.

BTW~It is a good move by 343i.

no yeah i totally get you, and yeah thats good it works. However the teams intentions become apparent when they have little to no score on the board and are holding key point on the map with power weapons. Then its confirmed when on the score screen they have +30 k/d and like 10 point for holding the hill.

Good new I say, I think in slayer games K/D is needed, but not in objective, it should stop the ones that sit and farm, by either making them help toward the objective, or they won’t play that game type.

To add to that, K/D is a CoD thing. It also usually translates to “I gotta save my own -Yoink-” in every game be it Slayer or Objective. That, in turn, translates to “Don’t give a damn about my W/L ratio” which is what Halo is all about.

That’s why my K/D remains at 1. I would do anything to win a game. Be it I should be cannon fodder, or a wheelman, I don’t care. As long as we win.

Lastly, that, is why Halo’s multiplayer is more gratifying than simply fighting for your own -Yoink- in CoD which gets really tedious and boring over time.

agree 100%

Why should I not be rewarded points to my K/D when I can farm kills and still win? Which happens quite often.

> Why should I not be rewarded points to my K/D when I can farm kills and still win? Which happens quite often.

because killing people who arent directly trying to kill you is really deserving of the K/D boost. Killing people In a Slayer game should be the only factored kills going to your global K/D. Also whether you do it or not ppl exploit this, often. So much in fact that there is at least 1 team EVERY game on multi-team who sole objective is to farm kills. This behavior ruins the game for lots of people.

I am so so so happy to hear this news! Halo is definitely about winning, not about farming for kills in damn objective games. This also means that i can happily enjoy griffball, king of the hill, oddball etc with out whinging to myself about K/D. I can finally just enjoy the game type. Save the K/D for when i hop into slayer to win by killing people. Thank you 343, you have exceeded my expectations once again.

> Save the K/D for when i hop into slayer to win by killing people. Thank you 343, you have exceeded my expectations once again.

Same here, it can only be a good thing in my opinion.

I agree OP, the kill farming in Reach has gotten ridiculous and there is no need for that type of behavior to leak over in Halo 4. In Reach it has gotten to the point where I’d rather play slayer games and cut to the point because objective games are all about a team using the objective as a mean to an end, the end being getting a good K/D of course. When it’s like that, objective games are so painfully boring.

One question though, could you provide a link where 343 said they would exclude K/D from objective games?

Bad news: I get rewarded XP for kills in Halo 4. Progression rank is used to unlock bigger and better things along the way. Hiding my K/D still won’t stop me.

Agreed Rapture. It’s about people using the objective as a means to an end, the end being their K/D. When it should be the other way around. The first priority should be the objective, while anyone getting in the way needs to be dealt with. Whether it’s suppression fire, killing them, or running them off. No one should be rewarded for throwing grenades into a hill and camping with the sniper rifle.

I understand what you’re saying, this still might be a problem, the only counter to this, that I have is: The XP payout for winning a game needs to exponentially greater than the XP payout for getting kills.

Here’s a picture from RTX showing the huge credit payout for actually winning a game. Hopefully it stays like this.
