K/D goes up, BPR goes down?

So I played a few matches of MM today, in several playlists, and came out in the area of 90 kills positive for the day. I check my Service Record here on Waypoint, and my K/D hasn’t changed, but my BPR has gone from 63 to 62.

I know BPR counts kills, assists, betrayals, and deaths. Didn’t have a betrayal all day that I know of, and came out with more kills than deaths (had a couple games with 20+ spreads). Assists are never a problem; sometimes I suspect my teammates are following me around waiting for me to drop an enemy’s shields so they can finish them off.

What gives?

It also counts W/L I believe and that might be your problem.

Welcome to Waypoint =)

KD + W/L = BPR

Good luck

BPR is useless, it puts far to much emphasis on betrayals and winning objective. Sure, I never actually go for the objective. Doesn’t make me a bad player. I’m actually doing far more ignoring the objective and killing the other team than my teammates are ignoring the objective and dying to them.

> BPR is useless, it puts far to much emphasis on betrayals and winning objective.

While I agree that BPR is useless, the weight put on betrayals is far less than most try to make it out to be. As for the emphasis on winning, that should be more heavily weighted than anything else. The point of the game is to win, your individual performance is pointless if your team loses.

While slaying is necessary to success in objective games, if you are completely ignoring the objective just to rack up kills then you aren’t helping your team any more than the person who is ignoring kills just to go for the objective. You have to work to find the perfect blend of both.

I think the whole premise is flawed. You can’t measure how “good” someone is with a single number, BPR, K/D or whatever.

Fair enough, but if you know what you’re looking for, numbers can give you a fairly accurate idea of someone’s skill level. Even just looking at k/d and w/l per playlist can paint a pretty good picture.

Yeah, depends if you play with a team or not, if you just got a new tv, if you’re play splitscreen or not or whatever.

Also, someone should really tell -Yoink!- Bum Cover he can’t troll like that until he reaches Technobrats levels of infamy.

> Yeah, depends if you play with a team or not, if you just got a new tv, if you’re play splitscreen or not or whatever.

Sure, but all that stuff evens out over time. If a player has played more than 500 games then the numbers typically show an accurate representation of how they play.

It’s “An Album Cover” and if you spent much time on the bnet forums you’d know that he is just as well known as, if not more than, Technobrats.

Sarcasm doesn’t translate well through text unless it’s blatantly obvious, and seeing how no one else seems to recognize him I assumed you didn’t either.

If it counts W/L, I don’t understand how people can have 100BPR with the amount of idiotic and bad noobs in Reach as team mates.

K/D, W/L, assists, and betrayals all matter.

I think?

Bad teammates just mean more work…it’s all part of the challenge. if you have a k/d in the 2.0+ range you can still get a 100 BPR with about a 55-60% win rate.

If you start a fresh account it is beyond easy to get a high BPR. On the other hand, when you play thousands of games, you can have months of positive play and it wont budge. At this point I honestly stopped checking my stats, I just dont care anymore.

I suppose.

Just to put it into perspective, since the Bnet shutdown I have played about 35-40 pages of games, with 25 games per page. Every single page has a vastly positive K/D, plenty of assist, and a positive W/L and I rarely betray people.

My K/D and BPR have not budged at all =/, thats pretty much the point I decided to stop looking.

K/D > BPR, in my opinion.

My general feeling as well.

You should run the numbers between March 31st and now. The reason your stats haven budged is because you haven’t given them a reason to.
