we’re not talking about assists, in fact, let’s say you finished with ZERO assists.
We’re talking about straight up kill to death ratio in slayer. which means no playing the objective, unless you’re talking about slaying of course.
So what’s your take? Some people think breaking even is good, not great. It just means that you did the absolute minimum to help your team win. You didn’t finish negative, so you had no negative impact on your team. You held your own pretty much just enough to finish the game.
On the other hand, others argue that breaking even means you were useless. You had no impact on the team what so ever. If you had left the team, the top players probably would have had more kills. You were pretty much a place holder, someone who is just “there”. Of course you had no negative impact, but don’t think for a second that you had a positive impact.
Let’s think of an example to help you guys answer the poll:
Game 1: Team Slayer (your team wins)
player 1 (21 kills - 10 deaths)
player 2 (8 kills - 8 deaths)
player 3 (7 kills - 6 deaths)
YOU (10 kills - 10 deaths)
Game 2: Team Slayer (your team loses)
player 1 (14 kills - 12 deaths)
player 2 (10 kills - 14 deaths)
player 3 (7 kills - 14 deaths)
YOU (10 kills - 10 deaths)
it’s “good enough”. breaking even means that you did nothing to help the team, but you did nothing to hinder the team either. However, as soon as you get say, one assist (even one’s that may not show up like suppressing the enemy to allow your team to set up a good position which leads to the win) you help. you’re not necessarily doing as much as the guy that gets 30 kills and 14 assists somehow, but you’re still performing adequately.
Kills and deaths / Kills to Deaths ratio isn’t the be all end all of stats.
Just because you go (+)1.0kd doesn’t mean you had no impact on the team. There are many other factors
Perhaps you distracted multiple enemies allowing your teammates to get the kills and go positive. Or you were playing a supporting role, scouting the enemies calling out locations to your team, holding up power positions or power weapons.
Not everyone on the team can be the main slayer, sometimes someone on the team is killing it you just have to play the role. Not all matches can be total annihilations were every member of the team wrecks it.
Kda seems to be a better way of gauging your value. I actually have a decent kd, but my Kda is way better cause I’ll try to land hits anytime I can cause it really helps the team, saves people’s assessment, and allows us to win. The most important thing in halo is not how many kills you have, but how many deaths. Assists as well, cause your responsible partially for the reason your teammate picked up the kill. Getting a kd of 1.0 in H5 is pretty decent considering how balanced the team matchmaking is. Keep it up
