Because 343 decided to omit ranks from the game I plan on boosting this horrid one they have installed. If I go AFK will I receive a ban?

Not sure. It’s not worth the risk. I was one of the ones that got de-ranked in Halo Reach. Bungie gave none of the cheaters any warning. I’ve learned from my mistake. Don’t AFK boost.

They de-ranked you!? Wow, these game developers don’t give us a competitive rank, and did nothing about the boosting in those. But then when we turn around and boost there socialistic, progression like ranking system, they de-rank you. This is a joke.
