My friend and I we are really new to halo 5 and when we grouped up we couldn’t figure out how to talk. He has really bad wifi so party’s don’t work. I was just wondering if anyone could tell me how to do this.

Discord is a good texting and talking app which you can get on your phone and laptop/pc. However OP you need to set up an xbox party under the tabs by pressing the main X Box button, then scrolling up twice from the home tab. Press create party, then invite your friend.

I think you have to be in a party to use game chat. If there is a way to use game chat without being on a party then I’m not sure.

No, game chat is the opposite of party chat. If you go into a game and you have a mic plugged into your controller, you can use game chat.

Killer Orca, iceonfire770, and Prophet of Ark, I shall give you three a brief reminder in regards to game chat and party chat.

When you’re in the middle of a match and your bring up the scoreboard, you might notice a small grey symbol beside your gamertag. This symbol indicates whether or not you’re in game chat or party chat. If you’re in game chat, the symbol will look like a speaker. If you’re in party chat, it’ll look like a rectangular speech bubble instead. Of course, you can switch between them on the fly.
