Today I won on Apex 7 round 5 the round that has the grunt mech for the first time since this game was released. Spartan Laser with Damage boost three hits and I broke the canopy. Took out the two Mythic Magsanggalang. I have never been able take out that grunt mech out before. Yeah.

Nice. Although you may not be up to it, I think it often helps to toss a teammate a banshee a little closer to the ending of Round 4 because there will almost always be somebody running towards the Grunt Mech with a BR. More people shooting it with REQs, faster it goes down. And by the time Round 5 starts, your REQ bar will have replenished to spawn in a weapon or vehicle yourself.
Another good weapon for getting the mech grunt is the Answer (saw). When his health is low get close and near cover, then open up on his canopy.

better yet, the best weapon for the canopy is the brute plasma rifle, it is really good, as the bolts do SOOOO much damage (for a small arms weapon) every bolt to the canopy. the suppressive fire also helps to stop the canopy shield from regenerating. Then all you need is a headshot gapable weapon (I suggest a gunfighter magnum or a BR) and that should get the grunt mech easily enough.
