Just wanted to drop by and say that...

Halo 4, as a whole, has picked up incredibly. It’s at that point where I actually enjoy hopping on and each session is insane / intense. Some probably disagree heavily and that’s fine. But, does anyone else feel like it’s heading upwards?

Yep, its picked up so much in fact that the population peaks at under 20,000 players
Hell, earlier tonight there were actually more people playing the 7 year old Halo 3 than there were playing the less than one year old halo 4…

Settings-wise, yes. The main issue now though is that the playlists are too consolidated. They are consolidated because of the lack of population. The lack of population is due to these changes taking to long to have been made, which is too late to rectify now, and Team Slayer requiring DLC, which is going to go on for at least another month, so we’ll continue to lose players even faster. Fewer players will cause longer search times with worse skill and connection matches, which will cause more players to leave. So on and so forth.

I wish I could say that Halo 4 could be saved, but it can’t. Its upwards trend is not enough to compensate for the downwards trend started when 343i released a half-made game last November and refused to broaden the range of supported gameplay styles until 8 months after launch. Halo 5 will either be Halo’s redemption or the last nail in its coffin.

EDIT: Honestly, I don’t think 343i cares about Halo 4 anymore. If they cared about Halo 4, they would have lifted the DLC restriction on Team Slayer, since it’s obvious it’s killing the population and not “viable.” Either they don’t want to go back on their statements, or they care about the “data” more than the health of the game. I think the latter. I think they realized that they screwed up big time, which is why they’re just letting it die while they harvest its organs for research.

Whatever information 343i manages to glean from its malformed child this late in its life cycle will be tinged by the fact that less than 10% of Halo 4’s initial population still plays it on a daily basis. If they wanted to conduct tests, accurate tests, tests that would actually have held some meaning if they were used to influence the future of the Halo franchise, 343i missed their opportunity by a country mile.

I’m loving it regardless of it’s flaws. Internet is down though :-/

In my recent encounters the competition has picked up. I’m really struggling through my matches. This could also be that I’ve been away for awhile playing Splinter Cell so my skills at Halo have deteriorated.

OP i completely agree and I really enjoy playing Halo 4! I feel sad when I can’t play, I wish more people came back and gave it another try because Halo 4 deserves it and 343 is showing a VERY GOOD attitude!
