Just wanna give a heads up to community

I’m sure some of you maybe seeing this going around the net, but Halo Infinite is 100% NOT going to be delayed into Summer of 2022. If any of that is official, 343i would post an update on this site or their official Social Media giving details of why it has been delayed until another year. Just wanna make sure nobody gets confused on this and spreads misinformation.

I read that post yesterday on Twitter. The first thing I realized was the page wasn’t verified and only had 52 followers. So many people where in belief though. Someone came into my friends stream and told us while we were playing. I argued with him about it because he was dead sure it was real. Lol I told him to go to literally any Halo or 343i social media page and it won’t show anywhere.

Man, I hate when people try to start drama and rumors.

Just look at the date on your calendar real quick and that’ll tell you everything you need to know

Everyone loves a good April Fools Headline

It has already been confirmed that this news is false, although many people continue to believe that haha

With this fake tweet coming out and 343 response i am more confident than ever that Infinite will have a 2021 release, would be way to hard to announce an actual delay now.

It was possibly the best kind of joke to pull on April Fools Day. Or the worst, depending on how you look at it, I guess.

Haha if it was for april fools I definitely don’t support it as it’s just a question I don’t want any more fuzziness around at all.

I prefer the light-hearted silly april fools celebrations that are obviously a farce at first glance rather than the genuinely deceptive ones that end up causing chaos and confusion, but that’s just me and maybe the spirit of the holiday is missed on me.

The amount of people who believed it when it took like 20 seconds to disprove is one of the many reasons my faith in humanity is so low.

The amount people who accepted that as fact without double checking any official sources is kinda disappointing

Kotaku clowned it up by being so scoop-obsessed as to run with what could’ve been debunked in less than a minute as a fake, and they’re rightfully getting flak over it. Internet “click” journalism/news is gross in every industry and creates all kinds of issues.

Be that as it may, of course casual fans and gamers aren’t surprised to hear about more Infinite dev drama and aren’t going to automatically dismiss it out of hand. This game’s development has been, at least optically, tumultuous. It’s been half a decade in the making and its big reveal back in July of last year was a tremendous disappointment, followed closely by the infamous delay to '21.

343i seems to be rallying into a stronger and more determined force with a set game plan for the rest of the dev time, thankfully, and that’s beginning to show in their marketing. Still, their track record up until the past handful of months doesn’t inspire confidence in their fans and gamers in general.

I say this a lot, but Infinite has a lot to prove, and every additional day gamers wait for it and every additional bump in the road it experiences in the eyes of consumers, that curve just gets steeper and steeper. It has to be great, or Halo’s the butt of every “has-been,” game series joke for another five (ten?) years. Use the extra polish time to deliver massively above expectations, 343i.

Any other day of the year, I’d agree, but it was April Fools’ Day… everyone knows not to trust any headline.

I disagree with the criticism entirely. Ever since the delay 343 has been doing an excellent job of expectation management and avoiding hyping the game in a Cyberpunk mode.
