Well, as you have all seen by now. The main enemy in Halo 4 are the Prometheans AI’s known as Knights, Crawlers and Watchers. And I’ve seen alot of people on the forums that believe that these Prometheans are the Prometheans themselves, this is not true. The “Prometheans” shown are AI’s, defense AI’s utilized by the actual Prometheasn who are Forerunners.
A Promethean is a Forerunner form which Forerunners can mutate to. The AI’s in Halo 4 are probably defense AI’s as said.
The Didact were a Promethean and I hardly think that he’s an AI.
Again, this is for the people who are confused about the Prometheans and those that think that the AI’s shown are actual Prometheans.
I think the community needed that cleared up.

We dont know if they are the main enemy - Obviously we are fighting them, but nobody has comfirmed it’s the main enemy.
Its certainly not the ancient evil anyway.

There are more classes of these AI’s.

When 4 major Forunner installations were destroyed by humans, it may have activated a fail safe switch in the AI’s defensive programing?
Ohhhh… Suddenly it makes a lot more sense. I thought that we were fighting the actual forerunners, who were mad at us for blowing up their halos. Thanks for clearing that up!
I needed that because I have no clue about anything Halo-related outside of the games.

Most likely yes. After all, that sphere seen in the E3 is a Cryptum…
and Cryptums are used to store living Forerunners inside as a crio-sleep pod.
I knew this since I heard Cortana say that the enemies aren’t organic, then I saw the names of the enemies had Promethean attached to them. The thing that I find strange is bsAngel seems to think we are fighting actual Prometheans, according to the last bulletin.

Maybe people wouldn’t be so confused if you didn’t use an apostrophe when typing AIs.

Why do the AIs have skulls?
Yeah something that got me a bit confused was that 343i kept saying that it was a new class called the “prometheans”… But as Cortana said in game, they were AI/constructs. So as far as we know, the prometheans can be on our side, but those AI were all rampant or something. Like the campaign trailer showed some blue promethean knights and stuff. Maybe those will fight with you. This is all speculation though.
I think it’s pretty clear that the didact is the “Ancient Evil”.
