Just to clarify everyone's questions on the Custom Challenges...

  1. If a person wants to boost their rank up, let them. Don’t be a glory hog showing off your inheritor rank. Be proud of yourselves, you don’t need others to love you. That will never happen, go away.

  2. The credits earned mirror the challenge difficulty e.g. kill 5000 grunts this week - 25,000 credits or whatever. You can’t just set challenge ‘kill one player - 200,000 credits’. How dumb can you get if you believe that?! Don’t answer that, idiot.

  3. This is meant for the people who, for example, don’t want to play several firefight games for 8000 credits and just want to do what they want. Also, you probably can only set max of 4 a day, which would override the normal daily challenges.

  4. These challenges would be a lot of fun to some non-miserable people. For example, kill 10,000 enemies in any game mode on Reach (weekly) this would be a slow, steady and moderately entertaining way to keep some people (myself included) to play Reach for that week.

  5. If you still want to whine, go on Bungie.net. The trolls there will ALWAYS welcome their own kind. Or go whine on Black Ops. Your choice.

Exactly completely right.

not quite, this appears to be pure speculation…

I personally think its a cool feature being able to make challenges to compete with your friends. I also like the fact that you can set yourself a challenge like get X amount of kills in matchmaking with the plasma pistol to give yourself a bit more of a challenge when playing.

What I disagree with is the Credit payouts. As you said, people will set challenges that are extremly easy to obtain but have huge payouts to climb the ranks easily. Though I do like the reward aspect of the challenges, there has to be some sort of incentive to do the challenge. Maybe set it so you can get Cr for completing a custom challenge but the credits dont count towards your rank progression.

I really like the idea because I’ll be able to use them as an incentive to get people to play custom games.
