Ok so I was just thinking to myself “It feels like the exhange is forcing players to both PvP and PVE.” Now normally this isn’t an issue, but there are some players such as myself who dislike matchmade PvP and prefer to keep PvP time to customs only.
Well I just thought of a way to entirely fix this issue and it only requires 2 miniscule changes on 343’s end:
-
Make gold challenges for weeklies worth 2 SP as they are fewer in number and usually harder to complete.
-
Make Blue challenges for weeklies worth 1 SP as they are more common and typically easier to do.
This way players don’t have to leave their preferred playstyle to complete their armory from the exchange.
Alternatively if 343 chose they could also add daily challenges like OG Reach and 4 had that could be worth 1 SP per completion and maybe have 3 challenges set up for a single day.

they could also introduce commendations to the mcc. reach and 4 had them and 343 managed to retroactively add them into 5. it’d be tricky to add into the mcc, but it would give players another incentive to play the game long term. i for one really enjoyed going for the commendations in reach and 4 had a decent take on them. plus, upon each commendation completion, you could be awarded with some sp or even some sort of customization

True, but my point was rather to make a minor update to the existing system than to make an all new system, namely to get anyone at 343 to at least consider the idea over microtransactions. Honestly if every single challenge awarded points I doubt players would be as upset with the MCC challenge system as they currently are.

that’s valid. and i agree, if all the challenges actually awarded points, i’d actually enjoy the system in place

I think the only reason 343 even restricted challenge SP output to begin with was because the MCC team wasn’t 100% certain there would be more than 2 seasons and didn’t want players to essentially unlock everything within a couple of months. I understand the want to add longevity to the game, but restricting stuff isn’t the way to do it.
