Just tested out ZB MLG (not MLG feedback)

All I have to say is… 343i, please stop wasting resources and man-hours trying to fix Reach, and just put all your resources towards Halo 4. In my opinion, ZB MLG settings are about as good as this game can get, and it still, for lack of a better word, sucks. (don’t stop reading, 343, I complement you guys a lot later on in this post).

You can polish a turd, but it’s still a turd. As a long time Halo fan, and a Halo Matchmaking Veteran, I can absolutely tell you that this game is 100% unsalvageable. I’ve been playing since Halo CE, that’s 10 long, and fun years. Reach was an embarrassment to the series and a kick in the groin to competitive Halo players. I refuse to even refer to Reach as a Halo game. We have Halo 1, Halo 2, Halo 3, and then we have “Reach”.

Don’t get me wrong, I GREATLY appreciate the effort and time that you guys have put into attempting to fix Reach. You’ve shown great initiative, and as someone who knows and still talks to Halo fans who converted to Reach and put up with the BS, I can tell you they appreciate it too. This game is just not a game that can ever be saved. It’s literally not possible to transform this game into a good game.

So, again, I will say this: Please stop attempting to fix Reach and push 110% towards the creation of Halo 4, which I know you guys will make a good game. I have faith in you for that. After what I’ve seen you guys do with Reach… taking that ball of poop and turning it into a less smelly ball of poop… I know you’ll do good with Halo 4.

Thanks again,

Shieldless

1: It takes 1 person like an hour to update it.
2: It is better MILES BETTER, and PLAYABLE.
3: Still a year to go.

I’ve got a hard time believing a so called halo fan since day 1 played transitioned from halo 1 to halo 2/3 and thought that’s fine.

I mean halo 2 was a downgraded and ultra casualized (lunge, insane auto aim, main weapon is 3 burst aka easy headshot, dual wield, glitches …) Halo 1. If you survived the dry and skilless 2004-2010, reach (especially post TU) is a much welcome addition to a casual console fps.

Are you sum kind of poser?..

H1 had a ton of glitches, bp reload, AR camo, etc…
post tu is FAR more skillful then default reach.
Halo 2 was insnaley more competitive than reach
Halo 2 br wasnt a 3 burst.

No i’m not a poser or whatever i’m simply tired of people who don’t seem to understand what makes halo good come in the forums and keep spewing what the general trend is at MLG.

And since you said in your first post that you actually played during halo 1, i’m even more shocked that you’d come in and say " to hell with reach it’s so bad, compared to halo 2(lol) and halo 3 (for realz bro?)".

Halo 1 had some glitches, but none were gamebreaking or dominating the multiplayer unlike halo 2. Compared the stuff you said to bxr, bxb, doubleshotting, superjumping. Halo1’s few glitches are so tame in comparison to halo2.

You mention " halo 2 br wasn’t a 3 burst". What? The BR in halo 2 does shoot 3 round bursts. If you mean something else, then please detail.

And finally you claim halo 2 was insanely more competitive than reach. On the issue of maps i totally agree. On many others i absolutely don’t. No fall damage. Regenetating Health. Burst weapon, which whean coupled with massive auto aim + magnetism made headshots near automatic. ( seriously go -Yoinking!- play halo 2 vista with a controller - i did it 1 month ago, and come tell me that aiming is hard).
But on the other hand, go compare halo 1 and halo 2. The skill gap between those games is a hundred times wider than between halo 2/3 and reach.

My final thoughts is, if you came to post “343 dont support reach cuz i dun liek it” -Yoink- off. I do, and i want them to support the game.

Yes because spamming a hyper accurate rifle from all kinds of ranges takes SO much skill.

Not to mention the whole " i shot you first so i win " Concept. Yeah its so good in ZB lol

Yes, because people NEVER miss shots. Are you playing against androids?

lol… seriously. I guess some people never heard of strafing either.

The absolute hatred some people have for Reach really makes me question if they’re Halo fans or not.

Halo Reach ZB has a higher skill gap than Halo 3, especially online. The only problem is it’s impossible to get put against good people because the matchmaking algorithms do not work, at.

It’d be better than Halo 3 if it had a ranked system and motivation to get better, but because it doesn’t, doesn’t match you up with skilled opponents and only has 2 playlists with ZB in them, with limited maps and gametypes, I’d say it’s still the worst Halo. It’s possible for it not to be, but 343i won’t invest that much time. Even then it’d take third place away from Halo 3, and still be a country mile away from Halo CE and 2.

However, 343i’s updates have made Reach playable, somewhat enjoyable, and it might even keep some people interested until Halo 4 comes out. If Halo 4 is anything like Reach then I think that’s game over for a significant minority of Halo fans. I won’t buy it at release, and if it looks anything like Reach (bloom, AAs) then I’ll go back to pretending Halo was a trilogy.

Yeah, Hyper Accuracy, sure. It’s not like you can strafe or anything, to make people miss shots. Also, if you get shot first, especially in CQC, then you either suck, or weren’t paying enough attention. At long ranges, then yeah, getting shot first is acceptable, you just have to get out of there, and come back with the advantage.

Amen brother, good post.

I enjoy Reach and would like to thank 343 in advance for keeping in contact with its players.

> The absolute hatred some people have for Reach really makes me question if they’re Halo fans or not.

Reach isn’t Halo.

OP, while I some what agree with you, I highly doubt that 343 is wasting resources on Reach that would otherwise be used for H4. It only takes probably a month of daily meetings to fully set out exactly how you want the game to play and function. The long part is actually MAKING that happen. Bungie had AMAZING programmers and AMAZING graphics artists etc, it was the 5 people at the top who decided “We want bloom; we want it to function like this” etc, not the other 90% of the employees who do 90% the work to make the game a reality. With that said, the majority of how H4 wi;; function is probably all already laid out on paper, and Frankie, an avid supporter of competitive Halo, is leading the charge. I don’t think this is something you have to worry about.

(Just FYI any numbers or times I stated above were purely pulled right from out of my butt.)
