Just something on my mind...

And this isnt sticking up for bungie or 343 or anything because frankly I couldnt play Reach (I love halo 4 however) but its a shot at those with entitlement issues. I have been on these forums since before halo 4 was released (lurking for awhile) but ive seen this saying REPEATEDLY “My halo” “Our Halo” like with reach/4 how they changed “our halo” ect. If you want to be technical…THEY are the ones who made halo, who wrote the core universe, who made the gameplay. So they have the right to do with it as they please, if that means turning the ghost into a damn unicorn that. is. their. choice.

Now like I said, I’m not defending bungie/343 because I hated reach with a burning passion. im just saying its their game, were just here to enjoy, or not enjoy the ride.

/end rant

Here you go.

Also, Reach was awesome!

I wouldn’t say they own Halo, they just own the intellectual rights. Nobody owns the Halo Universe.

While yes, they can do what they want with the games (aside from mandated features Microsoft wants), the consumer in the end decides weather or not to pay them their asking price of $60.

Halo has been a part of peoples lives for over a decade, mine included, when you devote your time and money to the games, books, movies, toys, posters, clothing, artwork, accessories, DLC… The whole universe, people kind of have a right to say our Halo.

I’m right there with you, been playing Halo since the early days of H2 all im trying to say is that even if we arent happy with the direction they really dont have to listen and in the other end. We dont have to buy lol

Exactly, but you would expect them to listen to fan feedback since, hey, we’ve been with the series for years.

All I can say is I played MP for about a month. After that I had yelled myself hoarse because of the stupidity of the gameplay and from that point forward I played nothing but H3ish customs on custom made remake maps

It was difficult to appreciate Reach until Halo 4 came along.

Reach had the all gray forge palette. Halo 4 had the visually noisy (colorful) palette. We complained all the time about the gray, now I wish we had it again.

Reach had Invasion. 343i told us that they recognized that Halo WAS Invasion, then proceeded to give us Dominion. What a massive failure to meet self established goals.

Yet when you run the metrics of player behavior or run surveys of the silent majority, the complaint is either not an important factor or is an attempt to manipulate the game in favor of a very specific minority voice.

Boy this sounds a lot like what drove 343i to add Team Throwup to Multiplayer. Did the anticipated population explosion occur? No…

The article you linked to is very profound. It talks about we posters gaming the game, or playing our own game within Waypoint. Very interesting read… Highly recommend it…

I can agree (remember I love H4 here) but the way I see it why they “ignored” the vocal majority is that, Pre-H4 the vocal majority was screaming with H4 with new weapons and a new coat of paint. Which would have been fine with me.

BUT at the same time, this series needs to evolve with every release or its going to become stagnant and turn into something I dont want to see it turn into in regards to evolution not gameplay (COD) and when your changing something, your going to change to whats selling at the time and as of the last 5 years or so thats been COD so the evolutionary track (Gameplay wise) was layed out before this game even released.

Why can’t you just accept that maybe you just don’t simply like it? I don’t like the Halo games with no health, but I don’t rage about it.
Or, maybe you need to play it with a different mind set, or ask someone who does like it why they like it and maybe view it from that angle.
I disliked Crysis and Crysis 2, as well as Splinter Cell: Conviction when I first played them. But then I thought about it and tried playing the games their own way rather then my way, then I started to enjoy them.

As for Firefight, the problem is that everybody always went for the low hanging fruit and picked the easiest options to pad their scores. FF Arcade really should have been a weekend thing. The “survival” part from ODST exists, it’s just that the options in matchmaking didn’t match them and they didn’t bother to update the playlist. Which is a problem Halo has that needs to change, not using its strengths of utilising all its options and Forge mode for new maps or altering old ones and just sitting on “what worked” for years.

Sorry, I meant to say “Screaming for H3 with new weapons and a freash coat of paint”

The last thing we need is CoD with Halo skins.

What set Halo apart was the engaging fire fights due to the futuristic armor that would allow you to stay alive to engage. I don’t ever see that on CoD and is why I won’t play CoD. When that one feature goes, I won’t buy Halo either.

If they are awesome devs, they will support the game, which in turn, the fans will support the devs, then we are all good and happy.

If not, people start mistrusting the devs, games don’t get bought. blah. blah. blah.

If people don’t buy the game, no more 343.

> If people don’t buy the game, no more 343.

I sort of think 343i will remain, Halo will remain, and if there are problems with sales, the employees will be replaced. Halo is Microsoft’s platform game. They will do whatever it takes to make it successful. They won’t give up on Halo, which in turn means they will do with/to 343i whatever they have to in order to accomplish that goal.

Team Throwback or whatever it’s called still suffers from similar problems as regular Halo 4. Although it is slightly more balanced than Infinity playlists. The current match-making system is so flawed that randoms can be paired up against a full team which is completely unfair, level 10’s can be paired against level 130’s. Even though these levels mean nothing in terms of skill, level 130’s have more weapons unlocked and therefore have a better chance at winning.

Reducing Aim Assist and Bullet Magnetism and putting in a proper ranking system with an effective trueskill system might just work.
Throwback is good, but it still has nothing on Halo 3.

About the article, I don’t find it interesting at all. This is the second time I’ve clicked on it in the last month or so, and both times it annoyed me. If I really wanted to persuade 343i to make the game that favours me I would beg them to allow only me to use the DMR. But I don’t, I just want balanced game-play so I can actually enjoy Halo 4, and not be forced to play Halo 3 to enjoy a Halo title.

I’ve been playing Halo 3 everyday for the last few weeks, that game… It’s so damn good.
