Nothing is less fun then getting into a fight 1v1 where someone pops overshield. You absolutely lose 99.99% of the time.
Agreed. I would argue that Active Camo is tolerable as a risk-for-reward drop, but overshield is just ridiculous.
I forgot to mention the fights where you’re fighting an OS and they pop another OS. It’s cringy terrible. I’d rather fight a tank.
This has happened to me countless times already lol or you can pop Camo and OS at the same time since Camo makes OS invisible. I’ve copied this tactic from other players and now I win LSS a lot more than I lose. Forget about leveling up or the Danger Zone or whatever that useless wall is called, just worry about stocking up on Power Ups and your chances of winning have just doubled.
I think instead of removing any Power Ups or letting them rain from the sky the whole match, they need to be spawning in specific locations that are announced to all players so they can compete for them. Also, they need to spawn less frequently.
Completely agree. The more I play this mode the more I realise that the power ups are what absolutely ruin it.
Halo has always been about fighting for power ups, but that’s the exact problem here, people don’t have to fight for them, it’s mostly luck.
Oh no someone out played you, now the game needs to cater to you so you can win!
Having an overshield is not outplaying… lol you think have extra shields is a skill?
It doesn’t help matters that OS got a decent buff heading into S2. OS now has a half bar more shield health than it did in S1.
It would be different if pickups were contested, but the map is so large that they are almost always a freebie.
I don’t think the problem is the buff of OS got but the duration. It lasts wayyyy too long for this mode.
I really wish the Grappleshot and Thrusters made an appearance. It feels like a big missed opportunity.
Just imagine one Grappleshot and one Thruster pack in play with unlimited uses but a long cool down. They would last the entire game, but the only way to obtain them would be to kill the player holding them. The long cool down would ensure that players can’t spam them. I personally think it would be great.
I agree it’s bad, but what makes it’s unbelievably worse is that you can stack them and have double overshield which is basically impossible to counter unless the person with overshileds is terrible and doesn’t know how to play an FPS game.
They 100% don’t play test their games, at all.
Nice troll, having someone get their OS destroyed just to pop another. I should probably just “git gud” and I’ll start winning these fights. It’s real easy to beat 2 OS’s.
You have to be one the most saddest trolls I’ve ever seen on here
Overshield is not outplaying someone, it’s because you can’t win engagements
Was worried about “pocketable” OS and AC from the start when they announced them for this game. Letting players hold OS in reserve is particularly bad design IMO, as it often just results in the power up being used as a get out of jail free card. I’ve made it to the final two players multiple times and have often finished with the highest kill count, but every time so far I’ve lost to someone who saved a power up to spam during the last encounter.
The amount of times I got double or triple teamed without overshield outweighs the amount of times I beat two people while using an overshield. I can’t count the amount of times I yelled at my screen because someone came out of nowhere and killed me when I was low on health during or after a fight just a second prior. Overshield might seem unfair, but the whole entire mode is about surviving. If you aren’t actively seeking drop pods when you hear them, that’s your own fault.
I hear a pod, I go to the pod. The pod is always a priority.
There is no greater goal in that moment unless I’m dying.
I make a beeline straight for any pod I see, even if I’m noticed.
Think of it as the objective like an Oddball or Flag.
Focus on pods. Ordinance is the advantage you need to survive.
Respectfully disagree. I literally was invisible for about 3 minutes straight earlier having semi accidentally come across three camos as I roamed around. That is broken, not a strategy
Sounds like a strategy to me. No different from Oddball, CTF, Stockpile, or King of the Hill. Pods are the objective. It’s FFA. You’re the only member of your team. It’s your job to work for your own benefit, and steal all the grenades, pickups, and XP Boosts. Your goal is to make everyone else lose. Choosing to let other people get the advantage is costing you your win.
If pods are the objective they should be in the centre of the map, where everyone has a fair shot at them, not scattered around randomly beside spawns so some people get lucky.
All the other game modes start on an equal footing and you fight for power ups that each team has equal chance of getting. This mode doesn’t do that at all. I mean stacking 2 overshields may be a strategy, you may be right, but it is a cheap one that ruins the gameplay in this mode.
I’m all for fighting for power ups, but there should be risk involved in getting your hands on them, they should be placed centrally and there should only be one or two of them in my view
All BTB maps have random pod spawns, but in this mode, all pods are one of two possible drops. It’s not like they’re spawning snipers, rockets, and swords . If you want a consistent powerup location, there’s one that actually IS in the middle of the map, in the gap that spawns Grapple, Drop Wall, Thrusters, and Repulsor randomly. You can fight over that equally. I also always go for it, so I have a much better chance of getting a back smack or escaping
