…until Christmas Day, when everyone ELSE will get their copy of H4. And, those of us who will have been playing for 2 months will have a field day. Heh heh.
Should we be easy on them until the day AFTER Christmas?

Brace yourself…
You’re forgetting Trueskill. None of the people who would have a field day will see any of the new players, because the new players are at the bottom of the ladder (and Trueskill IS here, regardless of whether you physically see it or not).

… the newbies are coming.
OT: I still don’t have the game yet… dangit…

I thought in matchmaking random ranked people are put together in a room, am I wrong? Cos I’ve seen SR-1 playing with SR-53 before xD
By the way, what/who is Trueskill?

There’s always got to be ONE “Debbie Downer” in the rooom. LOL

They were probably grouped. I grouped up with my sister and brother in law and they are level 20 while I am 54. I played against a bunch of 20s. Trueskill is definitely there, because there was NO competition while playing with my bro-in-law and sister, yet when I play by myself it is generally a lot tougher.

Maybe rarely (and it also depends on if the 53 is in a party with people of lower Trueskill rank; the Trueskill of a party is averaged, so when I pair with some of my worse friends I get to have a field day and I can literally carry our party), but for the most part Trueskill is in effect. Any time I play solo or with friends of similar skill, we get near-even matches. Any time I pair up with friends who are notably worse than I am, I have a much easier time killing the enemy regardless of playlist.
Trueskill is here, and new players start at the bottom and have to work their way up.
On a side note, sometimes it is fun as hell to team up with your worse friends. I’ve had games with them in Slayer where I was the only one on our team with a positive K/D, and we still won.
if true skill is here, why do i keep winning?

Oh ok, hey you accepted my buddy request!
P.S. Finding friends so please add me
What/who is Trueskill?
I don’t go easy on anyone.
Some people are naturally good at FPS games, and will start beating the more experienced players pretty quickly. Then we’ll see people who are ranked SR50 or something raging because they got beaten by an SR7.

TrueSkill is basically an (invisible for now) rank you have that states how good you are, like in H2. If you kept winning, your skill level would go up. Once yous tarted losing, your skill level would go back down until you start winning again. This way you are matched with people who usually do good like you do.
Trueskill is a part of halo’s matchmaking system. Your skill is assessed against other players and you progress up till you are playing mostly players of like skill. Great players playing great players, lousy players playing lousy players. It helps to keep the game competitive. It did not seam to operate well during halo reach, but during halo 3, many games were finished with just a few kills difference between first and last place. Halo4 seems to be working ok so far, but it takes a while for people to rank to their skill level. So it is still a bit erratic, and probably will be till late Jan or so.
