Just one thing thats get missed in Halo...

Does anyone out there misses it (because I really miss):

One word for you!! hdjjgjhdjhhgjaa! lol

It ruined the experience for me, maybe with the IWHBYD Skull

Yeah I do miss the humour.

But I guess since CoD didn’t have much…

Or Halo is adopting its serious tone it always should have had, it’s a sci-fi not a comedy

Why would you restrict the many things that developers can mix to make their game unique (including humour), to those that you seem to think make up the Sci-Fi genre?

Why on Earth does Halo absolutely have to be restricted to what other Sci-Fi games have done in the past? Can it not do its own thing?

It’s funny that you’re so against the idea that Halo’s core game mechanics should remain consistent, yet you are all for the idea that EVERYTHING Sc-Fi must be the same as it always has been.

That’s… one-dimensional. Personally, I hate entertainment that tries to be too serious to the point that it seems like the whole story was written someone suffering from clinical depression. The emotional scale of the story is whopping two emotions: sadness and hate. If it’s a movie or a game, you might as well make it black and white or at least the color theme very monotonous, just to drive the point across. You know, that it’s serious business.

Frankly, I don’t like when the whole point is to be gritty and dark. I’d rather be immersed in something more varied. You know, something where I’m allowed to be occupied by more than those two aforementioned emotions. That kind of story telling affects on more levels, obviously, beacause a wider range of emotions is allowed to begin with.

If you want your games to be super serious, by all means, there are probably some good ones for you. But should Halo be serious? You can think whatever you want, but I don’t like the monotony of continuous depression. I quite like the fact that the developer has the confidence to not try take the game too seriously. I like the variety because to me Halo is all about hope. And nothing makes me more hopeful than being happy.

Serious stories can have comedy to them. If you saw The Shawshank Redemption you’d see that it has one of the most mazing and serious stories there is, but it also has lots of funny characters. Star Wars is also Sci-Fi and it has a bit comedy to it. Johnson making jokes was part of his personality, as with Cortana saying things like “keep your head down, there’s two of us in here remember” that was just to lighten it up. Something serious can be funny, it just has to be implemented right.

I’m not saying “humour is bad this must be so damn serious”, I don’t like walking through a level a have a Grunt talk about his “bright blue balls” it ruins the atmosphere, that’s why I mentioned the only humour should be through the IWHBYD skull, subtle humour is fine

instead they should just make a skull that take away the humor, since most probably want it, then the few people that don’t should have to turn on the skull

IWHBYD has always been the humour skull, it works just fine
