Just offer Classic and Infinity Options

It’s the best thing you can do 343, as people will -Yoink- (as they always have) you can try to make both sides of the audience happy and reduce it

“But SpartanT110 I don’t like Infinity so 343 shouldn’t add it” Simple solution, don’t play it, despite the low population people still enjoy it so you shouldn’t just not include it, like they should of had classic gametypes with Halo 4

Let’s call it Legendary, shall we. And btw everyone in the world agrees. Anyone who doesn’t is an alien invader and should be arrested immediately.

I mean without sprint and such, people would still whine, but they could still have Legendary

I can’t name any games off the top of my head that have two different types of multiplayer, each being equally supported by the game or liked by the community. One is always dominant, possibly because it’s liked by more players, but normally because it’s very difficult to “equally support” two very different styles of gameplay in the same game.

Technically, Sprint is something people (not me) want rooted out of the game because it affects map design. Legendary setting without sprint would leave the player in unadequately sized maps, making the removal of Sprint a liability. So in a sense, either keep it everywhere or wipe it completely (what most people are saying).

OT: 343i should just give people what they want in Legendary playlists. They should go no further than the waypoint community which is filled the brim with people hoping for a Loadoutless, Personal-Ordnance-less experience (me included) with weapons on the map. That should be Legendary and I would be happy to play it.

BUT…
I don’t necessarily a “Classic” experience. I don’t want to use just classic weapons and vehicles, and everything that’s placed on the map is fair game to me and if we all start with it it’s fine too. So if 343i build a new gameplay feature like AAs were in Reach, they should just place it on the map or give it to everyone at spawn and keep it for most Legendary modes. The same goes for cool new gametypes in matchmaking.

Legendary shouldn’t just be Halo 3 multiplayer, but an adequate (emphasis here) sequel to Halo 3 multiplayer.

That said, for those who want a truely classic experience, one of the Legendary playlists should be a Classic playlist with gameplay as close to Halo 3 as possible and only playing classic gametypes (one Flag CTF, Assault, Team Slayer…).

Thoughts?

The fact that it hasn’t been done before doesn’t make it impossible. FFS, give me control of the Halo 4 playlists for one week and I’ll show you how possible it is.

Also, I think Legendary and Infinity playlists should appear in different lists (like Ranked and Social in Halo 3) as opposed to one huge and headache provoking list.

And what is classic gameplay? The core differences between Halo 1, 2, and 3 are even greater than the differences between 3 and 4. Each game in the original trilogy has its fans, and none will be pleased by adding elements from the other games.

And most of them stopped playing after 4. Less than 9 months in and its population isn’t really too far above reaches.

Have a community vote, I said to reduce the complaining

Agreed

The whole concept from the very beginning of halo was to constantly evolve. Each Halo game has brought something new to the series and that shouldnt stop with halo X1. But what they should do is test the gameplay on classical maps like Midship and Lockout and if it doesnt work on those maps, they need to change it. Sprint is not the problem with Halo 4, its the bad map design and weapons. For Small arena modes sprint should not be an option bcus it will not work but for big maps they can and should keep sprint. A good way to balance is to have a good selection of maps which is what was missing in halo 4 and to also have sprint as an option and not mandatory

and sword vs sword

The differences weren’t that great, they mainly boiled down to shield regeneration and weapon function (hitscan vs projectile). The basic core has remained consistent.

And to say Halo 1 to Halo 2 is more of a change than Halo 3 to Halo 4 is ludicrous.

Anyways, if people won’t play just because classic doesn’t exactly resemble their favorite title, they would not have bought Halo 4 to begin with, as each title mixes things up.

For starters, you can NEVER make everyone happy. People have the right to complain and offer constructive criticism to enable 343i to evolve as a studio. Personally, I don’t like the infinity settings or Armor Abilities as I have said multiple times. I understand that others do enjoy then and thats totally fine. However doing this splits the community down the middle and isn’t the best solution. Personally, I want ranked and social playlists similar to Halo 3 but that also causes issues of it own. Theres a downside to every solution.

I wholeheatrtedly disagree with this.

Not because I don’t want a Halo game that has Infinity in it, but because I don’t think there is an ideal way to make Halo work with the goal of appealing to both sides.

Black Ops 2 offers regular multiplayer and League Play.

League Play is essentially the competitive multiplayer with Perks, Guns, Attachments, etc not being allowed in play. There are also significantly less gametypes & maps included.

You could sort of compare that to Infinity & Classic/Competitive. Infinity includes the lot, while Classic/Competitive offers the most balanced & competitive experience.

I do agree entirely though, supporting both sides is difficult, especially when people have different definitions of Classic and what they think is right and what isn’t.
