Just noticed this

I’m ranked at platinum 4 or 5 in swat. Just finished a match against a team whose top player was lower level onyx. Each team had unranked players. My team won the game and still the onyx guy ranked up.

Why?

Funny, I noticed exactly this situation the other day. And I wondered about it. And then I forgot. And now I am wondering again.

Why do you think he went up?

I don’t know the stats of that game, but if they performed very well they can still rank up. Rankings are not solely based on winning or losing. Though I’ve lost a match of swat where I went 23-2. So unless they performed exceptionally, I couldn’t tell you lol.

It doesn’t always happen but sometimes it happens because their previous match didn’t record until the same time the current match did and the offset of the 2 could’ve been a positive increase overall, or even it could show an increase even if they go down. Champ ranks always show going up even if they went down (because it’s still technically Onyx) so you may still see the same. Regardless, for your current match they lost points no matter if it says they went up or down.

I’ll start paying more attention to the onyx players on losing teams. I have seen what I originally described happen quite a few times lately, in swat matches. I don’t generally see many onyx players in gold/platinum ranked matches in team arena, probably just more people play that game type.

The onyx guy did not perform exceedingly well in the match I originally posted about.
