Just how tall were ancient humans?

I’ve always been curious as to how their physical form may have differed from modern humans. Were they roughly the size of a spartan in armor and were they just as strong?

Halopedia has the closest answer I can give you: Ancient Human Physiology

Short version: about the same but a little larger than modern humanity.

Probably around the same size as the Spartan-IIs. Since they can test the Hellcat armor almost in perfect sync which is of Ancient Human design, chances are that they’re naturally the closest thing to them naturally.

I’d wager larger and taller then Spartan II’s due to them having to contend with Forerunner warrior-servants and Prometheans in combat. Judging by the visuals of the battle MC sees in his vision and the Charum Hakkor terminal showing Forerunners fighting humans on the human ship, they were of similar height given the laser sights of the human guns are aiming with arcing at Forerunners.

If they were only Spartan II height, then Ancient humans would have to aim upwards to hit Forerunners properly as if they aimed at their own eye level they’d probably be shooting Forerunners in the crotch area which would look awkward visually speaking.

Also there’s the scale of those ruins on Heian. Overall they are massive in scale compared to devolved human equivalents of that same architecture. Also there’s those massive “stairs” within those ruins as well. The ones were a single step was around the same height as the average modern male.

This is a fun tidbit I’d never thought about. When humanity came across the Ancient armour, do you think augmentation was required to wield it? I know that the Hellcat is a variant based off the original and therefore required augmentations like other armour. But if a human was the right height/build, do you think Ancient Humanity armour was streamlined enough to just work with anyone?

So as for the hellcat armor which is ancient human tech and also style, Spartan II’s are perfect matches where as spartan 4’s augmentation has to be tweaked as to be able to sync with the armor. I would say that seeing as ancient humans and the forerunner warrior servants were the same size and also the comparison of size between master chief and the Liberian/Didact is also the same size between the Didact and his own warrior servant soldiers… this would conclude that ancient humans would be the same size as master chief at the very least… if you need size comparison watch halo 4 cut scenes and also watch the terminal videos from halo 4 as the didact walks past his soldiers down a hallway and also walks up to the humans. (So when the didact stands next to ancient humans, they are the same hight as master chief is when fighting the didact in halo 4 and they are close to “if not” the “same” size as the warrior servants as the didact walks past them) soooo that’s what I’ve decided is what’s what.

Well the issue is that the spartan 2s are basically where the basic ancient humans were. So what the UNSC considers the “top of the line bad A soldier” is actually ancient humanity’s normal civilian. So the spartan 2s are “with their extensive augmentations” where the basic ancient human was “genetically” without augmentations.

I don’t know if the suits make them taller and bigger or if they are just like that?

Why don’t you ask your mom?

I’m not sure but I know that the original original humans were almost surpassing the Forerunners in technology. It’s entirely possible that they genetically altered themselves at points to increase traits.

I know that at least from the Forerunner Trilogy that ancient humanity came in a lot of different sizes and shapes etc. I believe that Halo: Cryptum best describes the different human tribes after they were devolved by the Forerunners.

The humans we meet in the Greg Bear books are de-evolved. They are what we were seeded from, so should be very close to us. The Anchient Humans of Forthencho’s era predate that, if I recall correctly and were at their peak. The armour we came across must have been from that elder batch of humans and we don’t know their stature for certain.
