Strange paradox today.
Memories of Reach came out recently…
CoD BO back compat came out today…
It’s just like Reach all over again since no one knows how many people are playing Halo and I just saw 61K in BO1?
It doesn’t help that I’m holding out for Warzone Firefight’s return.
Enough that I never have to wait very long before I get into a match, no matter the playlist.
It really doesn’t matter until matchmaking slows down, and it hasn’t.
I do not know. But at least there is enough to get into any game at anytime.

Actually, it’s been slowing down quite recently for me. I used to find matches in less than a minute, but now I’m waiting like 5 to find matches. And, before you ask, I’m an American.
Imo less then 35 Thousand
I think the last best guess was under 17k based on H5’s 11th place rank on popular games and knowing the 10th place game had about 17k people.

Actually, right now, you are not off target. Halo 5 is 9th on the MPXBL chart, and BF4 is 10th. Using BF4stats.com’s statistics, BF4 is around 23k, which makes Halo 5 slightly above that number. I just wish Destiny, The Division, GTA:V and BLOPS 3 had population counters to make more inferences.

It is most likely within the 40k-50k range. I know my calculations are a bit outdated, but not much has really changed in the past 3 months. This thread will probably get locked and redirected to the population discussion thread.
Pretty sure the population is in decline, the arena is practically a twitch shooter, have serious doubts that people will keep playing Warzone in it’s current state. Really couldn’t careless about CoD BO1. I suspect someday Halo MCC will get about the same population as H5 or maybe less.
The sad point is a 6 year old BO1 is more populated than a six month old H5G. (and even MS is rubbing salt in the wound with BO1 being on sale for $9.99 when the Memories of Reach pack is 14.99?!?!)

Slightly off topic but they need to either discount H5G or put it to Gold (in AUS anyway. I think it might have been on sale in US)
I have some friends who have played H5G kind of liked it but wont pay full price for it because at this stage they aren’t convinced its worth.

Halo 5 is currently on sale for $29.99 USD. That’s 50% off, that’s pretty good if you ask me.
I don’t know what kind of sales are going on over there though…

Thanks mate. I’ll take a look when I get home. It’s been $99.95AUD the past few months I have been checking. At $30USD that’s not bad.
I wish we could just see how many people are online…

A constant issue which 343 is working on
Apparently not enough for them to put in more play lists.

This. People don’t really know that the population is lower. They just assume it is based off the top 10 games list. Matchmaking is still working at a decent speed. So it’s really fine right now.
You can get a game very quickly, taking less than 60 second at any time, no issues.
