Play the game prior to the 20th and by the 30th, you’ll have a code sent to your email (the one linked to your GT) so that you can work on the six Specializations (since Operator and Wetworks are given to you).
LE users don’t have to wait and can keep playing uninterrupted. These are the only two ways.

Who’s sending the emails, Microsoft or Waypoint?
I’m just worried I won’t get the email lol. Wouldn’t surprise me. I have the right email on my billing for Microsoft but I never get emails from them.

I just maxed out my last specialization today, so it looks like I’m going to have to wait til the thirtieth. I’m having how often I’m getting limited, whether by experience cap or now this.

To that question, i have no answer for because i am in the same boat. I don’t really get any Microsoft related emails sans the ones about MS points, Live reward points, or renewals of gold subs.
For example, i didn’t get a puzzle piece for the cover art for Halo 4 that everyone got apparently ;/. So i am bit worried i could be missing out on an email.
