I really don’t care.
Normally I would never leave a match early out of respect for my teammates but if I don’t want to play the game mode randomly selected for me, then it’s ENTIRELY my right to leave and try for something different.
and compounding this, with only a few hours available to me for playing games, it was either: Leave early and try again or don’t complete all the weeklies. I am the owner of my time.
And I still couldn’t complete the weeklies but I got damn close, much closer than I would have if I just sat through the 6 oddball games that would have wasted about an hour of my time, vs the 30 minutes wasted looking for a CTF match (Yes I eventually got a couple, just enough to complete the challenge.)
If it’s a one ff thing like some emergency popped up and you leave, that’s fine.
But if you have a pattern of quitting because you just don’t want to play that specific match it says a lot about your character. When you play online with others, there is an implicit social contact to play the game.
Jesus people are so entitled these days.
You know what’s really a first world problem?
“waaah! The game didn’t give me the match I wanted, I’m quitting and I don’t even care about the real people in this lobby”
Pff, yeah right. How many people do you actually play with who use their microphone? Or even bother to open the chat box? Until they do, they may as well be actors in the game.
And sometimes they are people you don’t WANT to talk over the mic.
And a bot will take my place anyway so at least there’s 4 guns fighting at any given time, even if it spawns a useless marine bot instead of a spartan level one (they will at least play aggressively)
And let me reiterate. I am the owner of my time. Not you. Not Bungie. Not even the government. The audacity of some people…
343 is being too permisive. On another competitive game you will be perma-banned the first day so be thankfull to microsoft they are soft.
On overwatch if you d/c more than 10 games on a single month. You are perma-banned for that season and OW on dead-stake have 8M of players active probably a lot more than what halo will dream to have
No.
Halo is not Call of Duty, and it is not supposed to be ENTIRELY competitive, with game modes like Griffball and Juggernaut. It’s a game where you have FUN first, compete second. They even have a ranked mode for you die-hard competitive boys who think the game is their entire life.
So screw it. If they’re going to try to squeeze dollars out of me by tempting challenge swaps through these annoying random playlists instead of the classic style with pregame lobbies and voting or selecting specific gametypes before you even load in, it is on 343 that I feel the need to match-hop until I can find a match where I can complete the damn challenges I have.
And if I had the chance to complete this stupid challenge whenever, instead of being forced to wait for it to queue up, I would’ve had it done LONG ago, and I would NEVER have match-hopped because I would have no reason to.
These are all way down on the priority list compared to playing the game.
You mean the ones that run out by themselves and go 0-12? Yea wow that’s so helpful. If I wanted to play with or against both I’d just play the bot playlist or training.
So go waste your time somewhere else - clearly your time is SO important.
Do you play on a sports team and then just walk off the field because you just aren’t feeling it that day?
Whebln you drive your car and just can’t be bothered to wait for a red, do you just pass through it because it’s your time after all? When do the rest of society’s concerns ever matter?
In any situation where there are contesting or shared interests between you and other humans you just go “ahh f**** it, I’m a greedy -Yoink!-”.
Your time is SO important that you try to optimize getting imaginary virtual points for it. slowclap
Only… what did you expect me to do?
Well, as much as I think the current challenge system shouldn’t have challenges like this…
I don’t think the correct thing was to get drunk and ruin game after game of people by leaving and letting them get stuck with a bot.
i343 created a system which foster this.
@Naqser I’m a big fan of “two wrongs don’t make a right” personally. You can hate the system and simultaneously not ruin multiple peoples’ games by joining/leaving
My dude, you’re a narcissist. You don’t respect other people’s time, and care excessively about how my time is not being spent to benefit you.
I like the game, but when it comes down to the wire and I have only 2 hours to complete some stupid challenge, and the game is INTENTIONALLY making it time consuming to even FIND a match where completing the challenge is even possible…
Yeah I’m gonna match hop, sorry boys. I have work to do and I can’t be grinding this out all night long on a Monday.
But you see the problem here, right? You understand that they are inadvertently encouraging this behavior?
It translates to “Buy challenge swaps or match hop and get a ban.” when it’s crunch time.
match hop and get a ban
You didn’t have to do this. You chose to do it. At any point in the previous week you could’ve completed that challenge. You made a poor choice because you were drunk. Sorry
Nah dude, I was busy with real life.
Why cater specifically to the chronic gamers?
The gold medal in mental gymnastics goes to…
So because I stay in games that I am less than pleased with, for the benefit of my team, and to fulfill the social contract of online gaming I’m a narcissist.
But you quitting because you couldn’t be bothered because you wanted to finish YOUR challenges isn’t at all? Are you still drunk?
Yes then maybe don’t spend your oh so valuable time trying to get imaginary virtual points. Maybe go play MCC or something else then.
Same? And I’m sure for the majority here? I can’t spend all that time grinding, so I don’t. And I don’t match hop either. I accept that that is life and they are just imaginary points and I move on.
Nah dude, I was busy with real life. Why cater specifically to the chronic gamers?
lol you’re making your case worse. If you don’t have enough time because of real life obligations, which makes sense and isn’t a bad thing, that doesn’t give you an excuse to match hop. You literally just described the problem and it wasn’t the challenge.
CoD is the game for CASUALS for excellence since ps3. people can’t aim and just want have a bit fun play CoD. HALO and GEARS are x100 times more competitive than CoD
Couple things here:
You only have 2 hours to play, but you got drunk… K, that’s probably gonna last you more than 2 hours so hope you’re not operating heavy machinery or driving somewhere. If you got drunk to sleep, might wanna see a doctor cause that’s a problem.
Busy with real life… Again, you got drunk. My guy, getting drunk is a leisure activity, not real life. You were clearly busy with leisure life.
Sucks for you that you got banned. But, TBF, you got drunk and made bad decisions. So just like you shouldn’t get on Facebook or IG drunk, maybe don’t get on Halo Infinite drunk.
I did the same. And now I’m temp banned because I’m trying to use my boost and not waste it. But here i am because I can’t just play slayer. and I’d be wasting my boost. So now instead of wasting it while playing, I’m just wasting it by waiting. It’s great.
if 343i expects people to complete games and thus complete challenges, then they shouldn’t encourage people to do this in the first place by not only making challenges playlist and gamemode specific, but making said game modes random rather than player choices… Every Single THING they promised they wouldn’t do they went back on and I will not look down on anyone trying to game the system because it utterly blows…
I knew from the moment this system was gonna be implemented that things like what happened to the OP would be a big issue, because instead of fixing the issue by making playlists and gamemodes proper choices, lets just ban people for trying to unlock challenges the easy way… let’s just kill the game faster, that will show those GAMERS…
I agree. People these days a very entitled. Back in my day (just 10-15 years ago) you could leave matches and nobody would give a hoot. Now they act like our free time is owed to them and try to make quitting games seem like some kind of real world tragedy by saying “you don’t care about real people.”
0-12 is better than some real people.
I believe he is saying that the time he worked and had to do other things was the “real life” stuff he was talking about, not the being drunk part. Video games are not real life either. But here we are with people saying that the OP deserves to be punished for fake world stuff. Common. He is allowed to get drunk and play video games with the 2 or 3 of hours he has to himself for leisure without getting punished. Especially in the casual playlist.
So because I stay in games that I am less than pleased with, for the benefit of my team, and to fulfill the social contract of online gaming I’m a narcissist.
No, it’s because you expect me to just put up with having my time wasted because it might negatively affect my team when it kinda doesn’t. Most of the time the matchmaker will place somebody else in the match who may be better than me anyway.
Again, I only have a couple hours a day for playing videogames, and I can’t choose what matches I fall into. I was only match-hopping because it was my only choice for completing the final challenge for the week before I was completely out of time.
Maybe go play MCC or something else then.
Why would you make a game that pushes people back to older games? Where they can’t make any more money? This argument makes no sense.
Especially in the casual playlist.
Yes! Thank you!
For real, banning people for match hopping in the ranked playlist is TOTALLY fine, and encouraged.
It’s the fact I was banned from the casual playlists for a while, wasting even more of my time, that really irks me.
