Just got banned for leaving matches to find oddball match

I just got a ban for repeatedly leaving quick play matches in search of a oddball match for my weekly challenges. Im kinda pissed because there wouldn’t be this problem if they made the challenges a little less specific or it 343i would allow you to pick gamemodes in the queue or have a match composer.

Just venting. I realize im in the wrong but i also dont want to spend oodles of time grinding for my weekly challenges

You are not in the wrong. The system is just braindead and anti social.

Wanna play with your friends but everybody has completely different sets of challenges? Better play alone…

Wanna play campaign coop with your friends? Oh wait

Hopefully they bring in something similar to mcc where you can select game types, it would be so much better and result in less people quitting matches.

Even though there is a shortage of game types, as a temporary solution, could always split slayer and other game types, so it’s easier to get match towards challenge.

Although as a rule I stay in whatever matches come up, I do understand when trying to get challenges done it can be frustrating,

the system now is designed to sell those challenge swaps

if onyl 343 and their CLEARLY big brained idea to bring in rando contractors thought about the players first, making individual playlists or toggable playlists like TF2 or MCC… instead of artificially increasing play time by introducing RNG QUE system, because fun isn’t allowed. if you want oddball… enjoy having a 1/4 chance -v-

It’s gotten to the point for me that I spend a few hours on Tuesdays and Wednesdays getting through the challenges by myself so that I can try to have fun playing with my friends on the weekends.

There is so much about this game that is designed to be anti-social. From it’s SBMM that punishes you for playing with friends to it’s lack of pre-game and post-game lobbies with the ability to party up with people. The challenge system just adds to the anti-social nature of this game.

I was originally drawn to Halo because of the social aspects. And over the years 343 has taken away so much of that which made Halo appealing. I believe this is one of the major reasons why Halo is floundering under 343’s leadership (along with continually releasing broken incomplete games, obviously).

I don’t blame you in the slightest for this

343i created this problem when they decided to force player retention by stacking modes inside of quick play as oppose to having their own dedicated playlist

I doubt they’ll ever address this cheap way to keep people engaged, but I wish they would, I have no intention of playing multiple games of one flag on Launch Site just to find a single strongholds match.

I got temp banned for this as well. I think they should remove Slayer from Quick Play or reduce the chance of getting it. Or make a similar mode to MCC where you select a minimum of three modes to play.

Well… Yeah.

The challenge system is jank and awful and I’m in no way defending any of that when I say, you’re still being discourteous and making the matchmaking experience worse for everyone by bailing on your teammates. The challenge system incentivises that behavior, which is a huge problem, but bailing during a match is still bad form and appropriately incurs bans when done repeatedly.

We’re all in the same boat with Infinite’s crumby challenge system, and we all need X objective gametype to come up on the Quick Play rotation (will you please take Team Slayer out of Quick Play since it has its own playlist now, @343?) so we have opportunities to check off our personal challenges. It’s a poorly designed system and 343i deserves a lot of criticism for it. Your teammates don’t deserve to be ditched, though. You can’t be surprised that you catch a ban for repeatedly quitting matches.

I’m 100% with you on the frustrations of the challenge system. Quitting matches is just the wrong way to deal with it.

I hate the challenge system as much as everybody else, but you still shouldn’t be leaving matches. Especially at the start of the reset and you have a whole week to get something that takes way less than that to complete.

Honestly I’m not that good, so a bot on my team in my place is actually a good thing for them.

Just do it like me. I stopped grinding the weekly rewards since january. Im only playing the gamemodes that i want and when i want.
You cant imagine how relaxing this is.
The weekly rewards are not worth the time you have to invest to get the challenges done.

I quit about 10 and escaped the ban hammer… how many did you quit until you got caught out?

Im not sure i think at least 5 in a row

You can see the gametype while the game is loading if you check your ‘fireteam roster’ before you even get into the match.

Do what you want with this information.

I can confirm that, since i played against him earlier today: Slayer on Behemoth. He had the worst KDA with 4-15, but he didn’t quit (contrary to 3 of my teammates though).

It was my first match in weeks. My team won 37-31 (i went 20-5)

@rilakkumakitten i still hope you had some fun in that match though

lol small world. I’m female btw.

I’m starting to think that it isn’t worth the time/grind. The challenge swaps also seem overpriced compared to what is in the shop cosmetic-wise. I’d rather just play to enjoy the game than try to play in a particular way for rewards.
