This problem that has been spoken about many times I’m just hoping they don’t do this to infinite (whatever it may be)
SPRINT, MAPS are too small for Sprint, you spawn and someone is going to be there, hardly any strategy besides running back and fourth in a small area to maximize your kills. Led to warzone maps that don’t even utilize all the mechanics and ditched map variety. Warzone is still a cool mode though (better with split screen) just criticising.
Although dash is cool it just amplifies these things. Spartan bash also closes in the gap by with a basically insta kill.
The only way to make these mechanics work in Halo is to make grand maps height wise and width wise. I’m sure these maps would have been made by the community if forge was user friendly and had a tutorial or something. Heck, have a toggle mode that reverts back to the old controls to at least give people the motivation to learn the real controls after they have the pleasure of making maps. There are some custom maps that’s I’ve seen that utilize the mechanics.
The radar feeling weird is because if the map size and Sprint. It only takes into account a small area that is nullified by sprint
Assault rifles are also way too strong imo. High fire rate decent damage. Before you had br battles where a solo could potentially win, but now it’s way harder. 1 person with ar, other with br.
Also hope they bring back push to talk as well.
Just hoping infinite fixes things which I’m sure it will
Most of these topics have been discussed to death here, I’m just going to say that H5 like all other Halos has a lot of strategy in each map and game type combination. In high ranked play running around get’s you slaughtered. It’s just the mid to low ranges of skill level where illogical and aimless gameplay is not punished…
Regarding the forge controls; while I agree that it wouldn’t do any harm to have an option for legacy controls in forge the new controls are objectively infinitely better in all aspects. Everything is so streamlined and tools can be adjusted with a quick button combo instead of having to open multiple options screens. Button layout is smart so you can do many times at once with ease. I’m always baffled why is it so difficult for people to learn a new control scheme, especially when the left part of the screen shows what each button does in real time, so instead they just give up and complain. When people played old forge modes the first time they had to learn a control scheme that is hardly, if at all, any more intuitive than the H5 forge controls. When H5’s forge came out I learned the controls to a comfortable level in around five hours by just fooling around and building all kinds of nonsense. Beginning might be slow but that’s how it is with anything and everything new to learn.

Everything you said about forge is spot on, but ^ is what I want to talk about.
You’re also 100% right that this game doesn’t punish stupidity until some fairly high levels. That, imo, is one of the things that makes Halo 5 far too pro-centric. This is a game where every single feature is built and tuned to produce challenge for onyx players. If a mid-silver gets spartan charged ten times in the same game but doesn’t have the aim or the back up from team mates to counter that BS then nobody cares. No wonder people of disparate skill levels can’t have a discussion about the characteristics of the game - they’re not even playing the same one.

Even at mid level like platinum, gold, and diamond you still get punished a bit for doing dumb stuff. You’re pretty well bang on though.
I used to have the mindset of not liking or disliking Spartan charge. Until I got into ranked FFA. I now dislike it.
I used to really only play fiesta, Spartan charge not a huge bother with so many power weapons in play.
If you don’t pick your spots carefully when to Sprint in ranked playlists, you will die, simple as that. Magnum battles are essentially who started shooting first. If you’re sprinting everywhere, you will NEVER get the first shot off.
With forge, it’s objdctively better this go around. There’s numerous tutorials and the proof is in the pudding - look at what the community can create; it’s incredible.
Team Arena doesn’t have spartan charge. Sprinting is pretty balanced in every playlist since you get melted so fast if two people are shooting at you or someone gets the first couple shots because youre sprinting.
I agree about forge thought. In H3 even the most inexperienced forger could make a map that was fun to play with friends. In this game there are so many different controls and options it’s not as user friendly and reserved more for the people who really want to put in time to learn it and deal with how tedious it can be. Sure you can make more colorful maps due to the prefabs and use scripts to do things that were impossible before but I feel like the number of forgers has gone way down from the days of H3 when sites like forgehub were popular. Look at the custom browser for instance. You rarely see new maps. People have been playing the same duckhunt map for years instead of new ones always popping up like in H3. Same with that fat kid funhouse map or that stupid andys dorm map thats always on the front page. Forging also use to take more skill with interlocking, floating, geomerging, fusion coil switches, and lining objects up with your eye instead of by their axis number

People will agree with you but you are not right. The game was created with Sprint and cluttered running every to get to any point anywhere you want specifically for the fast paced arena always action for a mlg scene/esports scene. It’s not Halo and it did kill what was or supposed to be. It destroyed many aspects of halo and why the maps are the way they are of course mindlessly running will get you killed in any game.
