Just Food for Thought About The Price

I’m super excited for Infinite and I’m getting it either way but one thing that crossed my mind a couple times and it’s not just Infinite that’s done this either, is with the multiplayer being free to play, people purchase the game so they get the campaign portion of the game. Before a full priced game would give the Campaign and the multiplayer aspect of the game (along with forge and any other modes), but Infinite essentially is removing the multiplayer aspect from the payed version and the game is still full priced. What I wonder is that is it just campaign that’s being paid for, or is forge, firefight (if in the game) or any other modes being thrown in with campaign or are they going with multiplayer? (custom games is pretty much a guarantee to be with multiplayer)

I think the campaign will be great and from what it’s sounding like it’s going to offer a lot more than what some of the other campaigns have offered and may justify the full price and being a big Halo fan as I am I’m still getting it, but it just makes me wonder if the full price of the paid portion of the game is only getting the campaign and nothing else, or if other things are being included in the purchase as well (maybe throw in some exclusive multiplayer skins/armour for purchasing it as well). Just food for thought.

We’re not sure yet, but the campaign is to be supported in some way for 10 years which accounts for the price.

I suspect we’ve still got a lot to learn about the campaign side of things, and what that cost really gets us. Hopefully it’s something 343 can shed light on as we approach launch

I’ve seen this all over twitter.
Heres my take no1 has issues with Sony releasing single player experiences that previously had multiplayer for 70 bucks.
Alternatively farcry has long cut its multiplayer and there was no issues with that for consumers.
Infinite isn’t a 6 hour linear campaign and is far closer to a farcry in scale.
Finally we have Battlefield launching as a multiplayer suite in the same window at 70 bucks.

So yes the purchase is for the single player/coop open world game and there is nothing wrong with it in my opinion. The obvious elephant in the room being the vast major of people won’t be spending 60 on the game as it will be on GP day one and I suspect most will opt to play it that way or will only play the mp.

Basically this, we don’t know if we’re getting a much larger campaign then we’re used to. One that might justify a 60$ price tag.

Come to think of it, I don’t think they’ve announced a price for it either.

I’m not really worried either way, they definitely will shed more light on how much more Infinite’s campaign will have compared to other titles which I’m heavily assuming it will have more to offer just on the scale they’re saying it’s going to be so it may very well justify the full price. As for the price I thought I saw somewhere that i was still going to be a full priced game but I could be completely wrong in that regard.

I completely agree and if the campaign does justify a full price I’m all for it. I’d be much more willing to drop $80 (Canada) on a good story driven experience that I can thouroughly enjoy and replay, instead of the same price but a game that is just multiplayer like Black Ops 4 or Battlefield 2042, even as good as Battlefield looks, then ends up riddled with microtransactions. It’s more or less just something that has popped into my head from time to time, but in the end for the scale that they are promoting the campaign to be I’m not worried and I still think it’s going to be great!

Halo has always been story first, multiplayer second for me anyways.

Except you still get the campaign and multiplayer for $60, just like Halo 5. It’s also included on Game Pass, which you should be subscribed to anyway as it’s an insane deal.

This is not the case. Halo Infinite and Halo Infinite MP are two different things. You don’t get the campaign and multiplayer for sixty dollars. The multiplayer is free-to-play, and the campaign costs $60.

In my opinion, there should be some sort of multiplayer benefit for buying the campaign, as long as it doesn’t negatively impact those who don’t want to.

I wonder if the Campaign will also come bundled with some customization options for multiplayer as well.

We already know the first Battle Pass will launch for free alongside multiplayer. And the first live multiplayer event (each of which is free) will be how we get the samurai armor. But that doesn’t mean there aren’t other cosmetics planned for season 1 we don’t know about yet, which could be tied to the campaign purchase.

They could have a free to play matchmaking list, and a separate one for those who paid for the game. Like maybe the free to play is only BTB or something. Kinda like Social and Ranked

I think the point they were making is the “full” infinite experience still ends up at the same rrp as the prior games.

The bottom line is that Campaign (paid) and MP (free) are now separate entities.

It is now up to 343 to make a Campaign that is value for whatever money they decide to charge for it.

We shouldn’t need (or expect) anything for MP to ‘sweeten’ the deal.

What you’re saying makes sense, but it’s not technically accurate.

The “full infinite experience” is not the same thing as the prior games. Halo Infinite MP is a free to play experience, independent on whether or not you buy the campaign.
The full experience that you pay $60 for, is just the campaign.

Overall, you’re paying the same price, but that same price is completely independent of the multiplayer.

Just a little

If my Series X disc drive hadn’t broken, I would’ve totally paid full price for a physical copy on release day. Now I’m just gonna play it on Game Pass, lol.

We could also go back to the old Halo 2 and 3 days where you had to pay $20 for map expansions

I don’t think we know enough about the campaign yet to comment about the price. But there are multiple ways the price could be justified like campaign size and scope, multiplayer rewards, integration with multiplayer (like playlists), and campaign “DLC”.

It could be something like the Save The World game mode in fortnite. It’s what it was supposed to be originally, but got put aside as a coop gamemode alongisde BR. when you purchase STW, you get some exclusive skins and stuff that BR players can’t get, and you get missions that as a reward give you V-Bucks(the ingame currency that you had to pay for to get the battle pass and stuff) that you can use either in stw or br. giving the people who payed for campaign some benefits that will eventually balance out with what you would’ve spent on just buying it sounds like a good idea.

Guys it’s not hard. It’s a ten year game. So expect multiple campaign dlc. So, 60 is still good for that. Multiplayer dlc is still free to play. So to answer u getting more campaign.
