All he could think about was shooting that player. RobbyRotten420, as they called him, aimed down the scope of his sniper rifle. Every nerve and muscle was trembling, for if he missed, his team would lose the match.
“Yo! Come on shoot her already! She has the flag!”. Overhearing this from his teammate, his drew a breath and raised his scope up again. Under the bridge, the enemy player had their flag and was close to scoring.
Every single teammate seemed to have eyes on Rob. Exhaling again, he aimed at the enemy. “Calm, stay calm”, he muttered to himself. Initially, he only had the thought of killing the player in one shot. The thought of being the team hero was overwhelming and thrilling. Except there was one thing that was holding him back. Duckslayer9000, the enemy player with their flag, was his high school crush.
For a long time, Rob and Duck were close friends in school, and seemed to grow closer together through playing Halo. Over time, however, Rob became better at Halo, while Duck did not. Rob knew that she knew she wasn’t good, and always wanted to win one match, but always lost.
This time, however, Duck was doing really well, and happened to be on the other team by pure coincidence. Having scored the final flag capture and resulting in the win would be a first time for herself. Even Rob, to some degree, wanted to let her score just for her to be happy.
Conflict was the only thing running through Rob’s head now. Listening to his teammates, he was still being told to “finish that noob already!”. Ascending higher up in rank in his clan was on his mind for the past few weeks now. Seeing that this was his opportunity to impress his clan teammates with an extremely well sniper shot, he raised his scope up again to Duck. “So sorry, Duck. I truly am”, Rob muttered under his breath. Inhaling one last breath, Rob pulled the trigger while aiming at Duck’s head, and he saw a body drop to the floor, but not knowing fate had it’s own course for Rob that day. ClammyNose69, his squad leader, instantly died from the betrayal shot.
Hell broke lose over his microphone. Everyone saw Rob shoot the leader instead of Duck, but in all actuality, it was a mistake! Looking at the body, he realized that Clammy was going in for the assassination at the last second, because of Rob’s hesitation. Misjudging Rob’s final decision, Clammy accidentally went behind Duck at the worst possible time. Eventually, Duck scored after a few seconds of Rob’s team being in complete disbelief of what just occurred. This was Rob’s last chance to prove something, and now he knew that Clammy would boot him from the clan. Sighing with a hint of frustration, Rob just said “fudge it” and proceeded to -Yoink!- Clammy’s body and watched as his high school crush scored the flag and won the match for the first time in her Halo history.
